Support Air Quality Programs at the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) at Edwards Air Force Base, California and have a hand in transforming tomorrow. As the technical leader for the Air Quality Program at the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) at Edwards Air Force Base and in Palmdale CA, review AFRC facility operations to ensure compliance with State and local air regulatory requirements. Duties include, but are not limited to gathering air emissions data, providing recommendations to minimize or eliminate emissions, and compiling and maintaining records required by AFRC Air Permits. Calculating annual air emissions for AFRC and reviewing data to evaluate compliance prior to submittal to local air pollution control agencies. Prepare air program regulatory correspondence, permit amendment requests, permit applications and required reports for client review and approval Inspect permitted air emission sources and associated air pollution control equipment to ensure proper installation and operation. Assist with preparation and review of Environmental Management Plans, Standard Operating Procedures, regulatory reports/permits as part of MECX Environmental and Safety Team at AFRC. Participate in internal facility meetings, and internal and external audits, prepare findings and coordinate Environmental Management System (EMS) corrective action plans to resolve audit findings for continual improvement.
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering/Environmental Science or related field
5 or more years of relevant air quality compliance experience
Knowledge of California Air Resources Board (CARB) rules applicable to emergency power generators, aircraft ground support equipment (AGE), AGE parts fabrication and testing, fuel storage and dispensing equipment, and Ozone Depleting Substances (refrigerant) management highly preferred
Must be able to perform field work and site inspections, prepare reports, meeting briefings and training materials, and gather data
