Summary :
The Air Medical Communication Specialist provides safe and effective air medical transport. Works in a fast-paced environment to coordinate patient transport requests from emergency management services, law enforcement, fire services, and healthcare providers. Works closely with pilots, medical staff, aircraft mechanics, and administration to ensure transports are completed in a professional and efficient manner.
Job Description:
SCHEDULE
50/50 mix of days and nights during the week
12 hour shifts
Every 4th weekend rotation (Fri-Sun)
Rotating holiday schedule required
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.Receives incoming telephone and radio requests for service and information.
2.Activates appropriate aircraft or ground ambulance for assistance to requests for response, adhering to CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems) standards.
3.Maintains communication and tracking of aircraft.
4.Maintains communication with requesting facilities/agencies, and is accountable for providing quality customer service to internal and external customers.
5.Initiates and coordinates post-accident incident plans and emergency plans as needed.
6.Maintains accurate electronic record of aircraft maintenance and flight team members.
7.Presents a professional and courteous demeanor on the telephone and radio.
8.Participates in committees, public relations functions, staff meetings, performance improvement processes, and education opportunities.
9.Coordinates pre-planned medical transport requests with requesting facilities and necessary support agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED
Two years of experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), air medical communications, and/or 911 communications center (if not licensed as an EMT or higher)
Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) through International Association of Medical Transport Communication Specialists (IAMTCS) within two years of hire
Wisconsin EMT (at any level i.e., Basic, Advanced, Intermediate, or Paramedic) within one year of hire
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
