Overview

i3 is seeking an Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Track Management (TM)/Combat Identification (CID) Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities

The Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Track Management (TM)/Combat Identification (CID) Subject Matter Expert (SME) will work as a member of the Army Program Executive Office Missiles and Space (PEO MS) Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office (PO) Systems Engineering Team to develop architectures, interfaces, designs, and algorithms and execute papers, studies, experiments, and demonstrations to mature IFMC's TM/CID capability to be the premier capability within the Army and the Department of Defense. The TM/CID SME will be a source of knowledge and guidance to the Agile software development teams. The position will include technical briefings and advisement to leadership on recommended courses of action, trade studies, architecture and design, competing capabilities, performance, risks, and impacts to the IFMC mission.

Qualifications

The candidate must have a strong understanding of TM/CID concepts, must be familiar with current TM/CID implementations in 1 or more of the DoD services, must be familiar with academic research in this subject, and must have architecture design, and algorithm development experience. The candidate must have a strong understanding of the following TM capabilities; geodetic registration and composite tracking (i.e., fusion of kinematic and attribute data from task force sensors, and the Army's external sources of data (e.g., BFT, IBS, Link16, and CEC). The candidate also must have a strong understanding of the following CID capabilities; familiar with known sources of AMD CID (e.g., IFF, ADS-B, Civilian Flight Plans, Air Tasking Orders, NCTR), and must be aware of potential unknown AMD CID capabilities (e.g., RF signatures). The candidate must be aware of current research in composite tracking. The candidate must be able to improve on existing algorithms and/or synthesize new algorithms to mature the IFMC's TM/CID capability. The candidate must be able to work directly with the Agile software developers as needed.

The candidate must:

  • Be fluent in the Microsoft Office toolset

  • Be a US citizen

  • Be a resident of the Huntsville, AL area,

  • Have a Bachelor's degree (or advanced degree) from an accredited college (ABET preferred) in engineering, the sciences or mathematics,

  • Have a minimum of 7 years combined Government/DoD experience in performing the essential duties listed above,

Other Qualifications:

  • An additional plus is knowledge in IBCS, PATRIOT, MEADS, THAAD, C2BMC, or AEGIS. The ability to "move out" and champion your ideas, architectures, designs, algorithms; enthusiasm; independent critical thinking; and a team attitude are very important. Please note, as part of this government team you will be the design agent for IFMC: the prime contractor develops the code based upon YOUR government provided architectures, interfaces, designs, algorithms, and guidance.

The SME analyzes, develops, and implements the Army Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Force Management doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, and facilities (DOTMLPF) products. Responsibilities * Assist the ACM-SMD in the analysis, development, and implementation of Army BMD Force Management DOTMLPF products, to support the development, fielding, and sustainment of BMDS Elements, Materiel Developer plans, and warfighter strategic plans and operations. * Conduct requirements crosswalk to various Program Manager's specification requirements documents. * Provide SME expertise for element preliminary and integrated baseline reviews, critical design reviews, system functional reviews, weapon system reviews, and initial technology reviews. * Develop and update JCIDS documents including ICD, CDD, CPD, and DOTMLPF Change Requests. * Provide subject matter expertise for all Army and Joint Boards and Councils including AROC, JROC, JCB, FCB, and Defense Acquisition Boards. * Support Army requirements during element level Cost as an Independent Variable (CAIV) trade-off analysis.
