DUTIES:

This position is responsible for the preparation, development and modification of moderate to complex technical computer applications. The work includes preparing detailed specifications, analyzing and evaluating information. While the ability to exercise independent judgment and make independent decisions is a requirement, direct supervision is received from administrative personnel. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only)

• Reviews existing applications and programs to improve techniques and functionality.

• Maintain documentation related to applications.

• Consult with Management on a regular basis to determine departmental needs.

• Review applications/programs and resolve the problems as they occur.

• Interface with system users in order to troubleshoot problems.

• Perform updates to applications upon request or as a system requirement

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER

A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field; or

B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two year college or

University with an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field and one (1) year of computer programming experience; or

C) Graduation from high school or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma and three (3) years of experience as described in (A) and (B); or

D) An equivalent combination of education/training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) through (C).

SUBJECT OF EXAMINATION:

The examination will consist of a rated evaluation of training and experience questionnaire.

Only your rating on the evaluation of training and experience will be considered when

computing final scores.

RATED EVALUATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

You will complete a questionnaire that asks for specific information on your information technology

education (formal degrees, IT-related training courses, certifications) and experience. You will also

be asked to briefly describe a significant achievement in each of the job's areas and to provide the

name and contact information for someone who can verify your information.
