Summary: Under supervision of the Rehabilitation Supervisors, Staff Physical Therapist, and Physical Therapy Assistants, prepares patients for physical therapy treatment, performs routine physical therapy procedures, and assists in treatment.
Transports patients, cleans and maintains department work area and equipment, assists with clerical/receptionist duties. Interacts with infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families for registration, scheduling, and treatment.
Appropriately prepares patients for treatment with proper positioning, devices for ambulation, and equipment for exercise.
Accurately performs patient care activities as directed and supervised by a licensed physical therapist or physical therapy assistant. Consistently and promptly communicates patient response to treatment and/or any change in patient's status to supervising therapist or assistant. Consistently manages an average of 10 units/day for direct patient care including co-treatments with a therapist or assistant.
Keeps supplies and treatment areas prepared for patient treatment. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment and treatment according to infection control and safety policies. Coordinates with administrative assistant to accurately enter charges for EMG and Speech Therapy within 24 hours of service.
Orders equipment and supplies in a timely manner to maintain minimum supply levels; maintains accurate records of purchase. Orients, trains, and supervises volunteers to the department. Maintains basic skill level for patient scheduling and reception to be able to cover in the absence of the administrative assistant. Consistently and promptly communicates to appropriate supervisor any non-patient issues.
Previous experience as a PT Aide desired. ; Direct patient contact in a health care setting preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
