Job Summary
The AI Strategist and Applied Researcher will lead the integration and implementation of state-of-the-art artificial intelligence technologies across our research operations. This crucial role focuses on enhancing our AI-driven platforms and tools, enabling faculty to secure and manage grants more effectively. The AI Strategist will drive innovation, streamline research processes, and substantially boost the university's competitive edge in the academic and research fields by leveraging advanced AI solutions.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Designs and implements advanced AI solutions to optimize research operations and streamline grant management processes, ensuring both efficiency and effectiveness.
2.Analyzes successful grant applications in-depth to identify patterns and develop a customized alert system for faculty, thereby enhancing their funding success rates.
3.Enhances the usability and efficiency of accessing grant-related information, particularly on platforms such as grants.gov, by updating and improving current systems and processes.
4.Collaborates with web developers to build a comprehensive platform that tracks and supports researcher activities, promoting a more integrated research environment.
5.Provides strategic leadership and support to faculty and staff, encouraging the adoption of AI in research practices.
6.Continuously monitors advancements in AI to ensure their strategic and practical integration within the university¿s research framework.
7.Partners with industry leaders and academic institutions to advance AI research initiatives and secure additional funding opportunities.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's degree in Natural Language Processing, linguistics, or related fields
Required Experience
Five (5) years of work experience at a research university or similar academic setting
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English and another language used prominently in the AI space.
Expertise in advanced AI technologies, especially LLMS, transformer architecture, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation.
Proficiency in using ML toolkits (e.g. PyTorch, MLX)
Experience with language model training, large-scale text generation, finetuning with LoRA, image generation with Stable Diffusion, and ASR/VAD/Diarization applications with Whisper models.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Ph.D. in Natural Language Processing, or related fields
Proposed Salary
The budgeted salary range is $127,940 to $145,900. Offers are based on relevant experience.

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Proficiency with scholarship processes across all phases, including but not limited to ideation, literature review, exploration of funding, grant-writing, manuscript preparation, and dissemination.
