The Strategy and Innovation team supports the office of the Vice President and Chief Global Information Officer (CGIO) and Ithaca campus CIO in the development and execution of technology strategy.

The Opportunity

The AI Solutions Architect plays a pivotal role in advancing the adoption and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across the institution. This position acts as a bridge between the functional and technical communities. It involves a blend of service coordination, project management, and advocacy for AI initiatives, with a strong emphasis on leveraging technical expertise to guide the development and deployment of AI systems responsibly across the institution. The AI Solutions Architect collaborates with faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of AI projects and pilots. Additionally, they actively engage with IT governance structures across Research, Teaching and Learning, Administration, Community Engagement, and Infrastructure. The role demands a deep understanding of AI technologies and their application in an academic setting, ensuring that AI solutions are tailored to meet the diverse needs of the university community while promoting ethical and responsible use.

What We Need

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's preferred) with five (5) - seven (7) years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proven experience in AI project management, coordination, or support.

  • Deep understanding of AI systems, model training, system deployment and modern RAG practices.

  • Hands-on experience building MLOps and Serverless applications.

  • Expertise in data engineering and data pipelines.

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative mindset to engage with faculty, administrators, and technical teams. Skilled at bridging communication gaps between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Passion for advancing AI in higher education.

  • Some travel may be required.

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the expectation of being onsite frequently. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.
