The Attorney General's Office is recruiting for a permanent full time AGO Senior Investigator/Analyst in the Torts Division. This position is located in Tumwater, Washington, and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).

AGO Senior Investigator/Analyst Salary Range 66: $76,188 - $102,540

The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The following stipends may apply based on position requirements:

  • Incumbents assigned to our Seattle office location receive an additional 5% King County Location Pay stipend.

  • Incumbents assigned to a position designated as requiring dual language skills will receive a 5% Dual Language Requirement Pay stipend.

Division Information

The Torts Division defends tort claims and lawsuits against all state agencies, officers, and employees.   The majority of these cases involve theories of state liability alleging negligence in state actions such as highway design, release of inmates, maintaining state property, providing medical care and social services , employment, child care and custody, vehicle and maritime operations, and law enforcement.  With such a diverse practice our professional staff are continuously engaged in challenging and interesting work.  Opportunities to learn and achieve professional growth through experience, mentorship and training are encouraged and supported.

What does an AGO Senior Investigator/Analyst do?

Torts Investigators are responsible for the independent investigation of tort claims and lawsuits brought against the State. The incumbent shall be expected to independently conduct comprehensive investigations and analysis of the issues concerning complex, technical and multi-issue tort claims, potential claims, and lawsuits filed in state and federal courts involving large potential damage awards against the State or any of its subordinate agencies. Investigators also spend significant time interviewing relevant witnesses and evaluating their credibility.

This recruitment announcement may be used to fill multiple open positions for the same classification, in addition to the position(s) listed in this announcement.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and ten years of experience conducting investigations, which include the authority to independently plan and conduct investigations in civil or criminal cases.

Additional qualifying investigative experience may substitute year for year for education.

OR

Five years' experience as an AGO Investigator/Analyst.
