Project Management is accountable for leading all aspects of an IT project in a waterfall, agile or a multi-methodology approach. This includes planning, leading, organizing and motivating teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality. It is the Project Manager's responsibility to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget and delivers on the values and capabilities outlined in the scope document. The Project Manager may be responsible for managing several tracks of work with waterfall, agile or multi-methodologies in a fast-paced environment that cross multiple business divisions. As projects shift from waterfall standardized practices to agile methodologies and techniques, teams will need a strong Project Manager who can adapt to shifting priorities and methods of delivering value and capabilities. In performing this role, the Project Manager will be expected to use a high level of knowledge and experience in blending traditional project management principles and practices with an agile development approach in the right proportions based on size and complexity of the project/product.
Directs strategic project/program initiatives of high levels of complexity and impact
Manages highly complex projects independently with little support and direction from others
Delivers results through leadership and influence rather than authority and control
Delivers communication on complicated projects and issues in an easily understood simplified style to any audience
Motivates others to share in project challenges and inspires them to achieve project goals while constructively evaluating their performance
Manage total concurrent projects summing over 15k hours but may be less based on other complexity factors
Customizes solutions for complex and multi-methodology barriers or risks
Represents the project/program and its objectives in all governance/compliance/regulatory standards
Provide direction and oversight throughout the lifecycle to project team to meet applicable business requirements
Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team
Acts as an internal advocate for the project
Identifies, coordinates and communicates dependency impacts
Accountable for understanding business objectives and how the project/program delivers them; driving adjustments to more effectively achieve desired business results
Ability to adapt and respond to changes both inside and outside the team
Ability to lead across a wide variety of project types and methodologies
Education: College degree
Experience: Over 10 years of related experience, insurance experience a plus
Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
Demonstrate track record in delivering complex projects with a strong focus on execution
PMP Certification (preferred but not required)
SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects. PMI-ACP, CSM, or equivalent (preferred but not required)
Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
Strong written/verbal communication and facilitation skills for communicating at all levels; including strong presentation skills
Demonstrate strong skills in team leadership and conflict management
Strong consultative, customer focus skills
Intermediate knowledge of MS applications (Work, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, SharePoint)
