The JPMorgan Chase Legal Department is responsible for providing legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporation's lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structure encourages legal teams, businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.

The Office of the General Counsel helps attorneys make the best use of their time by providing centralized services and tools to i) develop professional skills, ii) manage projects and achieve business objectives, iii) optimize processes and technology, and iv) engage and connect employees. The OGC supports the Legal Management Team to establish and execute the department's objectives by driving and supporting initiatives to i) implement firm-wide standards and governance, ii) provide financial discipline and risk controls, iii) guide the people agenda and iv) drive best practices.

Legal Data Practice Group Description:

The OGC has established an industry-leading data management team that enables better business intelligence and decisions through data that is accessible, trusted and understood. This team oversees the data governance program for Legal and partners with Technology and other OGC groups to deliver business-friendly solutions to make data-driven decisions.

Position Description:

LDP is seeking an Assistant Vice President to serve on the Legal Data Central (LDC) product ownership team

  • LDC is the central repository of all JPMC law firm and non-law firm vendor data. The AVP will help to develop foundational programs (data governance, reference data, data quality, etc.) that provides the JPMC Legal department with trusted, consistent, accurate data. This involves partnering with business units within Legal, technology, and the Firmwide Chief Data Office to envision and build industry-leading data management solutions leveraging critical data sets, as well as defining and implementing data governance and quality processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, evaluate, define, document, maintain and track data and business requirements

  • Participate in daily stand-ups, help oversee UAT and Production testing

  • Analyze, evaluate, define and document business and system processes and identify and document underlying business requirements and rules

  • Manage data governance activities and ensure collaboration from a group of data stewards, data domain managers, business SMEs and IT stakeholders

  • Partner with the Firmwide Chief Data Office to understand and implement Firmwide mandates, standards, and recommendations across Legal data management

  • Prepare presentations and materials for stakeholder reviews, project team meetings, and leadership reviews

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • MBA or related graduate level degree preferred

  • Financial services background ideal

  • Academic or work experience in Legal a plus

  • Experience in enterprise data management at a major financial institution a plus

  • Proven ability to coordinate across functional teams of business executives, IT professionals, and other key stakeholders towards common goals and objectives

  • Strong relationship-building skills, demonstrated consultative approach and proven skill in influencing others/corporate diplomacy

  • Agile, Scrum, Lean Start-up experience

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Process documentation experience a plus

  • Familiar with different software development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile)

  • Competency in in MS Word, PowerPoint, SQL, Visio, Excel, MS Project, and Jira

  • All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment

Position Description: The LDP is seeking a Data Domain Manager ("DDM") to manage the Spend data domain. The DDM is the advocate for a particular set of data used within Legal. The DDM is the "connective tissue" that ensures data of the domain is defined, sourced, and used consistently across multiple applications and programs. The DDM oversees all key data initiatives for the domain including but not limited to: data definition, data quality, data retention, and classification criteria.
