The main focus of an Agile Development Manager is to facilitate and manage teams, they are not expected to contribute to velocity. Further, the manager has personal responsibility for the coaching and career development of direct reports, takes responsibility for eliminating impediments, and actively evolves the systems in which all team members operate. They have accountability for the effective value delivery as well. They work with other Agile Development Managers to help create exceptional teams and high quality development standards.

The Agile Development Manager works closely with the Product Owner and Scrum Master to implement product development processes, guardrails, quality standards, training, and pre-release validation activities and methodology. They also actively look for improvement opportunities and facilitate improvement initiatives across the delivery teams.


  • Personnel and Team Development

  • Attract, recruit, and retain exceptional people

  • Build high performance teams; influence mission and purpose for individuals and teams

  • Take subtle control in assignment of individuals to teams; address issues that teams cannot unblock; make personnel changes where necessary

  • Evaluate performance; provide input, guidance, and corrective actions

  • Participate in defining and administering compensation, benefits, and promotions

  • Understand, teach, and sponsor technical skills development in support of high-quality code, components, systems, tests, and solutions

  • Listen and support teams in problem identification, root cause analysis, and decision-making

  • Serve as Agile coach and advisor to Agile Teams with Scrum Masters

  • Program Execution

  • Actively participate in annual budget planning

  • Help ensure the teams have the tools to perform their tasks

  • Participate in Inspect and Adapt Workshops

  • Help protect Teams from distractions and unrelated or unnecessary work

  • Participate in PI Planning, System Demo, and Solution Demo

  • Provide other resources as necessary for teams and ARTs to successfully execute their vision and roadmap

  • Alignment

  • Work with System Architect/Engineer, Product Managers, and Product Owners to establish clear content authority

  • Work with Release Train and Value Stream Engineers and system stakeholders to help ensure alignment and effective execution of Strategic Themes.

  • Continuously assist in aligning teams to system mission and vision


  • Leadership experience, skills, and training

  • Understand, support, and apply Agile Architecture

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, trust-building, conflict-resolution, and writing skills

  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Software/Web automation scripting experience (Selenium WebDriver, HP UFT, Capybara, Watir, etc.)

  • Programming knowledge/experience (Ruby, JavaScript, HTML/XML, CFML, Java, etc.)

  • Database knowledge/experience (SQL query language)

  • Passionate about creatively solving business problems

  • Meet multiple, challenging deadlines while communicating expectations clearly


  • Advanced knowledge within field

  • 5 years of experience in software development required

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience

  • Team management experience

  • Conducts highly complex and critical tasks

  • Works independently with extensive latitude

  • Experience in enterprise-level software and/or the life sciences


  • Operate a computer and work at a desk for extended periods of time

  • Communicate effectively in writing, in person, over the telephone and in e-mail

  • Ability to work non-standard hours and travel as required

Responsibilities As part of Navitiare's Technology Team the agile project manager * Serve as scrum master on multiple projects and facilitate scrum events on an operational level. * Create the project roadmap and manage the release train by identifying release milestones. * Monitor issues from existing clients, create and maintain resolution paths and client satisfaction. * Collaborate with Product Owner(s) on backlog grooming and facilitate long-range planning and forecasts by utilizing agile metrics (velocity, burndown etc.) * Track and manage project controls and identify risks, impediments and dependencies. * Ensure that the project is managed to budget, schedule, scope and quality; that it delivers the benefits anticipated in the business case * Generate operational metrics (sprint, project, quality and program) to assess team productivity, quality, to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. * Effectively communicate project status to stakeholders regularly. * Assessing the scrum maturity with the goal of maximizing value delivery to customers and keep team focused towards project objectives. * Develop agile adoption strategy, organize and run campaigns of education to foster a model of collaborative environment and a culture of learning. * Monitor, develop and implement strategies for business process improvement by applying lean principles to improve operational performance. * Effectively apply the Amadeus project management processes and adhere to project standards.
