Duties and/or Responsibilities Safety
Partner with safety professional(s) to develop, train and support safe practices and policies.
Hold direct reports accountable for advancing a world class safety culture.
Participate in safety review of plant sites, post-accident reviews when necessary and manage response to programs or policies as needed (i.e.: drug testing, proper PPE, use of equipment, plant and tools, etc.)
Hire, develop, and lead the performance of employees.
Manage direct reports, operators, truck drivers, and scale/dispatch personnel.
Address any employee concerns efficiently and lawfully.
Work with appropriate peers, support and advance management practices and policies.
Develop and maintain a working relationship with public agency personnel, vendors, rail road personnel, trucking companies and customers.
Troubleshoot any production/supply related challenges, and scheduling or resource allocation issues.
Positive attitude with the ability to mentor and inspire others.
Continuously monitor inventories at Aggregate Distribution yards to maintain an acceptable quantity of materials on hand to meet production and sales demands.
Manage employee schedules for coverage and operations of material yards and offloading of rail and barge deliveries.
Oversee utilization of internal and external dump trucks to service Knife River operations and customers.
Manage scale house/dispatch personnel to achieve maximum efficiency of distribution of products internally and externally.
Maintain and foster effective customer relationships.
Ensure appropriate environmental permitting is in place.
Monitor material quality, inspect and troubleshoot material issues.
Work closely with Quality Control Department.
Coach and monitor team members and sites to comply with OSHA and all safety regulations while working closely with the Safety Department.
Communicate effectively and be able to work with sometimes difficult people under high stress situations
Must be a self-motivated team-player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful to others at all times.
Monitor and discuss production/service problems with co-workers, managers and supervisors.
Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
