Plans and teaches skills and activities for Middle School Youth. Develops positive relationships including providing prompt and courteous service to participants and their families.

Responsibilities Supervises a group of children to ensure their health and safety and to provide for a positive experience for each child.Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.Professionally engages with parents/guardians to provide pertinent information about their child's experience and to promote upcoming programs.Ensures that toys and equipment are clean and safe, set up and stored properly.Helps lead games and activities for youth, ages 11-14.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications

18 years of age or older (21 years of age if the position requires driving).High school education or equivalent.Ability to plan and initiate culturally relevant and age appropriate games and activities.Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.Current state approved first-aid certification.

  • At hire, or earliest possible training (but no later than 90 days after employment) ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS IF THE POSITION REQUIRES DRIVING

Current Driver's License with a minimum of 3 years safe driving experience and a driving record which meets or exceeds YMCA standards.Maximum of one minor violation.


  • One year+ previous experience with children and families from diverse backgrounds.

  • 6 months+ experience teaching specified activity/skill hired for.

  • Program lesson planning and instructional skills.

  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).

  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.

We are currently seeking a full-time Substance Abuse Counselor for our Canyon Park Treatment Soluitons facility. Hours are M-F 5am to 1:30pm, Sat. 6am to 11:30. Canyon Park Treatment Soluitons, a member of Acadia Healthcare's Comprehensive Treatment Centers, is a part of the leader in medication assisted treatment for individuals struggling with an opioid addiction. With full-circle care that includes a blend of therapies and the use of safe and effective medications, we are prepared to treat the entire problem, not just a piece of it. Position Characteristics The Substance Abuse Counselor is a counseling professional who provides treatment and support to assist patients receiving care in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, or other behavioral problems; assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of patients receiving care through an outpatient setting. Responsibilities * Conducts individual counseling sessions, under supervision, as scheduled and documents as required; * Conducts group and/or family sessions, under supervision, as scheduled and documents as required; * May co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions; * Responsible for initial assessments, as well as follow up assessment, for patients; * Prepares individual treatment plans for each assigned patient; * Ensures all documentation regarding patient care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner; * May act as a liaison between referral sources and patients; * Provides crisis intervention to patients, as needed; * May plan for aftercare for assigned patients; * May act as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested; * May provide case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care; * Evaluates patient's needs and determines if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed; and, * Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements * HS graduate or equivalent required; prefer bachelor's degree in social or health services field from an accredited college or university * No previous experience in field required.
