Mount Pleasant School District Job Description JOB TITLE: After School Program Youth Instructor • Job Purpose Statement/s:

The job of After School Program Youth Instructor is under the supervision of the Director of ELL & Student Support Services, and assists a group of 20 students through the various program components. Directly Responsible To: Director

  • ELL & Student Support Services Duties and Responsibilities • Assists the school site to implement (plan and deliver) a quality After School Program with all the required components specified by the grant. • Assists in implementing and facilitating a "Parent Leadership Committees" to encourage and motivate parents to be active participants in all after school activities and events. • Works with the Site Supervisor to collect academic and attendance data required for evaluation reports (Assists in maintains 85% attendance requirement of site-specific grant. • Implements assigned activities and/or program components • Communicates regularly with the Site Supervisor regarding use of facilities, scheduling, discipline, and injury of students, staff, and/or parents. • Attends scheduled staff trainings and meeting; • Adheres to and participates in the planning and supports all of the calendar events of the program. • Works with ASP Site Supervisor and Lead Instructor to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with site administrators. • Evaluates situations for the purpose of taking appropriate actions and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution; • Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience • High School Graduate, plus one year of paid or volunteer experience working with youth, 2 years of college with experience preferred; • NCLB compliant • Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills; • Skills:

    Excellent oral and written communication; • Ability: to be flexible and responsive to the needs and demands of the job; willing to become trained in CPR/First Aid; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skills are required to perform multiple non-technical tasks with an occasional need to upgrade skills due to changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicate with persons of varied cultural and/or educational backgrounds; operate standard office equipment; prepare and maintain accurate records.

    Knowledge is required to perform basic math including fractions, percents, and ratios; to read a variety of manuals; write documents following prescribed formats and/or present information before groups; and understand complex multiple step instruction. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: none specified. Ability is required schedule a number of activities; gather collate and/or classify data; and use basic job related equipment.

    Flexibility is required to work with others under a variety of circumstances, analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment suing standard methods of operation. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/pr purposes; and utilize a variety of job solutions; with data it is moderate; and with equipment it is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the function of the job include; adhere to safety practices; be attentive to detail; implement established curriculum; meet deadlines and schedules; work under time constraints; flexibility; written and oral fluency in secondary language.
