Part-time Positions

Monday and Wednesday 3pm - 8pm

Overall Job Objective:

The After Hours Responder position exists to greet, welcome and assist all customers and to provide a staff member to handle resident and building emergencies, and other issues that may arise, outside of normal administrative business hours.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Work as a productive member of the Community Services team, maintaining a positive and professional attitude at all times and diligently working to fulfill the mission and goals of the organization.

  • This position is the primary responder to resident and building emergencies outside of normal administrative business hours (evening, weekend and holiday hours). Responsible for monitoring the emergency alarm systems, including the apartment emergency alert panels (pull cords) and fire alarm system and promptly notifying the appropriate staff and city emergency personnel (911) when an emergency occurs, following established Golden West emergency policies and procedures.

  • Response to emergencies includes assessing the situation and determining what kind of emergency assistance is needed and summoning that assistance, following established Golden West policies and procedures. Emergencies may include, but are not limited to: Resident falls, medical emergencies, deaths, emergency alerts, wellness checks. Fire alarms, system malfunctions, heating issues, plumbing floods, plugged sinks and toilets, and housekeeping issues in public areas that may pose an immediate safety/sanitation issue

  • Greeting all customers in person and over the phone in a manner that is welcoming and makes them feel comfortable asking for assistance/information. Customers include all Golden West residents and their families, prospective residents and their families, community members, home care workers, staff, prospective staff members, board members and all other visitors to Golden West.

  • Responding to all customers in a professional and courteous manner and working diligently and efficiently to meet their needs by providing them with information or connecting them to the appropriate staff person to assist them.

  • Handling all details for the daily resident check-in system including: phone calls from residents, entering accurate information on check-in spreadsheet, pulling reports from the web-based dining system (Full Count) and door card system (eMerge). The responder is responsible for checking on residents that have not been accounted for during the day (no shows) following established policies and procedures.

  • Reporting resident/family requests for maintenance and technology assistance following established procedures. The Responder may need to determine severity of the issue and directly contact the appropriate staff members for more urgent matters.

  • Maintaining resident logs (out of building, emergency, hospital and no show), noting all changes promptly and accurately.

  • Assisting guests checking in and out of the guest room, following established procedure.

  • Accepting resident requests for meal deliveries during weekend hours following established procedure.

  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements:

  • Desire to work with individuals age 62 and older

  • Excellent customer service skills, fluent English language skills, written and oral

  • Team oriented with the ability to work with all staff members.

  • Ability to stay calm and follow established procedures during emergencies

  • Ability to effectively communicate in person, via telephone and over a radio

  • Ability to move swiftly throughout the building, including up and down stairwells

  • Able to walk and stand for an hour at a time, able to kneel, squat, bend over and lift arms overhead

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs., push and/or pull 75 lbs.

  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook and be able to use computer for up to an hour at a time

  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
