POSITION: Child Care Associate (s) for After-School Care at Middle School (quanity is dependent upon student enrollment)

BUILDING: Harper Creek Middle School

PAY RATE: $14.00 per hour;

Benefit package includes paid sick and personal days; potential for work in summer care program

APPROXIMATE TIMES: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

  • 2:30 pm

  • 6:00 pm on student school attendance days

Wednesday

  • 1:30 pm

  • 6:00 pm on student attendance days.

Position Title: Child Care Associate

Reports To: Child Care Director

Summary:

Assists site supervisor in providing care, education, supervision, and guidance of children at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to:

  • Greet, welcome, and communicate with all parents and students in the program on a continual basis.

  • Continuous interaction with students.

  • Work with other child care staff to implement daily planned activities

  • Notify Site Supervisor or Assistant Director of Child Care of problematic issues that arise.

  • Complete annual professional development requirements mandated by Child Care licensing.

  • Must be CPR and First Aide licensed. Or be willing to become licensed.

  • Other duties associated with child care as assigned by the Site Supervisor, Assistant Director of Child Care or Director of Child Care.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises students within parameters given.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to parents, community members and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work with children with physical, emotional, and/or cognitive challenges. The ability to positively interact with public, staff, and students.

The ability to tell where sound is coming from is essential in this job. The ability to meet multiple demands from several people. Ability to develop effective working relationships with student, staff, and the school community.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, climb, balance and sit.

The employee is occasionally required to use hands to operate technology devices reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
