Title Affirmative Action Specialist, Division of Human Resources Department Human Resources (7101) Location Main Campus Position Summary
The Division of Human Resources Recruitment and Outreach team is seeking a committed colleague who will quickly become a vital resource and trusted advisor working as an Affirmative Action Specialist (AAS).
This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative individual to provide expertise and compliance in the area of our affirmative action plan. The AAS is responsible for drafting and implementing the University's affirmative action strategy ensuring compliance with Department of Labor regulations.
They will be responsible for creating and implementing training and outreach plans designed to increase campus knowledge of the university's affirmative action plan (AAP)/equal employment opportunity (EEO) commitments and to support progress toward meeting affirmative action staffing goals.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the recruitment team and will partner closely on projects and initiatives supporting the team's success. They will also work with a diverse set of units across campus including the Office of General Counsel, Provost Office, and Division of Equity and Inclusion and Title IX. They will also build relationships with our external community partners in an effort to build a diverse talent pipeline.

Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and monitor the university's affirmative action plans (AAPs), to include analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of AAP information for production of annual reports, and incidental compliance reports as requested by state and federal enforcement agencies.
Recommend action steps in affirmative action based on quarterly and yearly analysis of statistical performance (hiring, promotions, and terminations) to Recruitment Director and CHRO.
Act as main point of contact with outside legal counsel supporting development and analysis of AAP.
Work closely with outside counsel on interpretation and reconciliation of related data.
Develop and conduct targeted programs to educate senior leadership, faculty, and staff on affirmative action policies and regulations; disseminate information to increase awareness of affirmative action issues; and to share strategies to increase the recruitment and hiring of a diverse workforce.
Build and maintain contacts with federal and state government agencies, civic agencies, and organizations involved with affirmative action and cultural diversity.
Oversee outreach management system and related recordkeeping and reporting. On a yearly and quarterly basis conducts an analysis on the effectiveness of known university outreach methods.
Act as the organization's affirmative action expert and serve as a point of contact for related inquiries from the community and regulatory agencies. Responsible for communication of updates related to AAP to campus stakeholders.
Review, draft and suggest revisions to written policies, procedures, and guidelines to address HR compliance obligations in partnership with campus stakeholders.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience attained through professional level experience.
Five or more years of employment experience in an affirmative action/equal opportunity/compliance position
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SHRM-TASC, PHR or SPHR certification
CAAP or Sr. CAAEP certification
Diversity or EEO professional certification or coursework
Experience in a college or university setting
Experience working for a large employer of 10,000 or more
Experience with PeopleSoft or Cornerstone software products
