The Seidman College of Business, School of Accounting at Grand Valley State University invites applications for a one-year renewable, non-tenure track position beginning in August 2020. The open position is for an Affiliate Faculty of Practice in Accounting.

The candidate should have earned a M.S.A. or Masters degree (or higher) in a related field from an AACSB accredited institution by August 2020, and should have related industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in areas of teaching needs, and who have demonstrated teaching effectiveness at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Salary is AACSB competitive.

SUMMARY: The Dean is responsible for the overall leadership, direction and oversight management of the College at each campus and online, including the development and implementation of academic programs, policies and procedures related to the programs, and College budget. The Dean must understand the forces that are reshaping education and the specific disciplines of the college in the US and around the world. The Dean is the ambassador for the College, internally and externally and provides direction to meet key performance indicators through coordinated plans and activities which supports achieving the Vision for the University. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Dean will perform all related tasks to fulfill the following: Leadership and Community: * Provide direction, leadership and management for the College and its' faculty and staff and fosters an environment of inclusion to build consensus and advance the goals of the College and the institution. * Explore and champion new opportunities for the college in its markets and advise on how to position the university to penetrate potential future markets. * Build relationships with the leaders in the community where DU is located, alumni, local and state officials, other institutions of higher education, and any key stakeholders and partners while seeking external support and guidance. * Work collaboratively with all University units and departments to increase enrollment, diversity revenues, enhance opportunities for students and the University, and meet key performance indicators for the college and the University. * Develop and maintain a sustainable long-term plan to strengthen academic quality of all programs within a continuous improvement approach. * Participate in appropriate professional and community organizations and activities and advise the provost regarding partnerships, articulations, and opportunities with businesses, organization, community leaders, local and state officials, and community colleges. * Ensures compliance with and abides by appropriate internal and external guidelines, regulations, and policies associated within Academics or other role specific regulations. This includes regional accreditation, professional accreditations, NCAA, GLIAC, and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations. Programs and Curriculum: * Oversee the development of new programs and review of current programs, curriculum, assessment, policies and procedures while engaging faculty in the process. * Institutionalize College Advisory Committee with appropriate activities to ensure relevance of programs, curriculum, and learning outcomes. * Ensure the development and implementation of student learning outcomes assessment. Operations: * Ensure appropriate management of all college resources and operations (budget, faculty [hiring, credentialing, and development], technology, etc.) to support faculty and staff in a culture of openness, respect, and commitment to the highest standards of quality and accountability. * Hire and supervise direct reports and provide direction to all personnel as needed. * Provide GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers. * Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values. * Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: * Earned Doctoral degree in field preferred, Master's Degree in related field required. * Minimum of five years' experience teaching in higher education. * Minimum of five years professional experience and scholarship in a related field. * Demonstrated history of successful leadership within a higher education setting. * Successful experience attaining national accreditation. * Successful experience in fundraising and securing grants preferred. * Appreciation for scholarship, applied research and service learning. * Demonstrated understanding of varying needs and learning styles among adult and traditional students. * Successful experience in strategic planning, setting short-term and long-term plans with actions and measures for achieving stated outcomes and commitment to continuous quality improvement. * Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning and professional development. * Ability to think critically, analyze data, and process detailed information. * Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems. * Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution. * Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral which transcends to diverse audiences. * Must be highly motivated and solution oriented with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the university. * Business office environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain). No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. * Frequent travel, including overnight stays. * Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
