Job Description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) has teamed up with a leader in the aerospace, defense and commercial markets. Our client is seeking a talented Manufacturing Engineer to provide manufacturing expertise to solve complex challenges, and to implement process and product improvements.

Scope of Experience and

Responsibilities:

  • 3-5 years of experience in an electro-mechanical assembly, test and/or machine shop (CNC or NC), environment.
  • Must have experience within the aerospace, defense, and/or military industries.
  • Background in E/M, hydraulic actuator, or similar high reliability products is a preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Gauge R&R and machine capabilities.
  • Provide technical solutions to address manufacturing issues
  • Support new capital equipment purchases and manufacturing implementation
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability & Assembly (DFMA) and New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • May interface directly with customers.
  • Participate in process improvements on a project level.
  • Support manufacturing with implementing complex engineering improvements and solutions.
  • Adhere to Quality System requirements and support process audits.
  • Initiate and support Process Flow Charts, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Experience with Project Planning tools, such as MS Project, is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering, Aerospace or a related technical discipline is required
  • Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred
  • Continuous Improvement (CI) training and hands-on experience
  • Professional certifications including AWS, SME, CWE, CWI, etc. are preferred

The systems engineer will analyze customer (commercial and military vehicle) technical requirements and develop system level requirements, decompose and allocate requirements to hardware and software and define system verification tests and procedures. Position Responsibilities * Define system level architectures for rugged computing systems * Transfer customer technical requirements and Interface Control Definitions into DOORS. * Define system level requirements including traceability compliance to the customer specifications * Allocate system level requirements to hardware and software and generate Hardware Software interface specifications. * Analyze system level requirements for safety, risk, performance, design and show compliance to customer and certifying authority specifications * Develop and execute test plans, test cases, test procedures and verification plans to verify and validate the operation of aerospace avionics and software * Support all phases of project development including design, reviews, verification, and test * Interface with Hardware and Software engineers to ensure that key system features function as expected * Interface with customers to validate the requirements, environment and operating concepts and provide a solution that meets technical and cost objectives * Prepare and present internal and external technical design reviews Essential Skills and Experience * At least 2-5 years of systems engineering experience * Knowledge of system hardware/software development, integration and test * Working knowledge of systems engineering tools such DOORS, Clearquest, and Rational Development Tools * Ability to operate and debug Linux and VxWorks operating systems * Understanding of VMEbus, PCI, and PCIe backplane design standard * Excellent troubleshooting skills of rugged computing systems * Experience conducting System Safety Assessment, Functional Hazard assessment and Failure Mode Effects Analysis is a plus * Experience with Microsoft Office including Word Excel, Powerpoint and Project Minimum Education Requirements * BS Computer Science, BS Software Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering This position may require exposure to information which is subject to US export control regulations, i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
