Job Description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) has teamed up with a leader in the aerospace, defense and commercial markets. Our client is seeking a talented Manufacturing Engineer to provide manufacturing expertise to solve complex challenges, and to implement process and product improvements.

Scope of Experience and

Responsibilities:

  • 3-5 years of experience in an electro-mechanical assembly, test and/or machine shop (CNC or NC), environment.
  • Must have experience within the aerospace, defense, and/or military industries.
  • Background in E/M, hydraulic actuator, or similar high reliability products is a preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Gauge R&R and machine capabilities.
  • Provide technical solutions to address manufacturing issues
  • Support new capital equipment purchases and manufacturing implementation
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability & Assembly (DFMA) and New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • May interface directly with customers.
  • Participate in process improvements on a project level.
  • Support manufacturing with implementing complex engineering improvements and solutions.
  • Adhere to Quality System requirements and support process audits.
  • Initiate and support Process Flow Charts, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Experience with Project Planning tools, such as MS Project, is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering, Aerospace or a related technical discipline is required
  • Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred
  • Continuous Improvement (CI) training and hands-on experience
  • Professional certifications including AWS, SME, CWE, CWI, etc. are preferred

Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of electrical and mechanical parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies for defense applications. Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products. Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.Your Challenge * Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products and conduct reducibility review of engineering drawings prior to release. * Performs various operational or methods analyses related to labor standards and reviews product/project flow data, equipment and labor requirements for use in conducting manufacturing operations, increasing productivity and reducing production unit cost. * Assists in the evaluation of engineering changes and/or other specifications requirements and performs as technical liaison with other engineering personnel such as program management, finance, design, quality, procurement, inspection, and production. * Establishes Manufacturing process flow and work instruction. Create and update manufacturing standard procedure, which defines specific manufacturing processes. Your Expertise * Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or equivalent * 5-6 years' relevant Engineering experience * Ability to read and understand drawings and specification, and MS Office suite or products. * Knowledge of basic electronic and mechanical assembly principles. * Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply to practical situations. * Ability to solve problems and deal with variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
