VIEW JOBS 10/10/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-08T00:00 The Global AWS Hardware Infrastructure Security Team (HIST) is looking for an experienced Senior Hardware Security Engineer with deep hardware security expertise to help define the future of cloud technologies. In this role you will work daily alongside some of the most distinguished engineers and business leaders in the company as you help create and secure our most advanced hardware solutions. Are you familiar with "secure boot" and how it works? Have you worked with Intel and ARM security technologies? How about PCIe and SPI buses? BMC and IPMI? ROM and NAND? TPM and UEFI? If you have experience with hardware platform design and related security considerations, in this role you can shape how cloud computing is experienced and shared by people across the world for years to come. Did you know that Amazon Web Services is in the semiconductor business? It's true, and the incredible scale of AWS and the pace of our growth (+46% revenue year over year as of Q3 2018) would not be possible without our ongoing commitment to treating every day like "it is still day one". To deliver services at this scale, we have to be willing to embrace new strategies to meet our customer's needs. One of the most important things that enables us to continue to grow (and to support the extraordinary variety required across more than 165 distinct cloud services that we have today) is our investment in internal hardware design. AWS internally designs unique servers and network devices for the AWS fleet, and we are constantly adding to an already staggering array of other first-party hardware for internal use. We make everything from discrete components such as power supplies and storage devices, to full platform solutions for every conceivable customer purpose. By applying your hard-earned years of practical hardware security expertise, you can ensure risks from all of these things are consistently and effectively mitigated across all of AWS. This is not an entry-level position, and a confident understanding of hardware/firmware security and the ability to collaborate with other engineering leaders are essential to success in this role. In order to inform your recommendations and steer AWS in the right direction, you will often be called upon to provide direct, hands-on interaction and security perspective for networks, devices, and critical source code. Your skills and technical expertise will help us secure our networks, harden our infrastructure, and preserve the trust of millions of customers around the world. Although there are many others that will help with coordination across teams and actual implementation of hardware designs, a Senior Security Engineer is expected to be the definitive voice of security in the room. Their understanding and prioritization of risks should be the most informed, credible, and constructive available, and success is based on their ability to earn trust along the way. Core Responsibilities: * Provide security expertise for truly massive hardware and data center infrastructure projects * Directly represent the team to business leaders and technical staff at all levels of the company * Perform hands-on security threat modeling, risk assessment, and operational security analysis * Drive improvements in all aspects of security, including hardware design and human procedures * Demonstrate *exceptional* judgment, integrity, business acumen, and communication skills Amazon.Com, Inc.
