FCA is seeking a CFD Engineer with focus on Computational Aero Acoustics. Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Build highly detailed CFD models to perform acoustic simulations and identify noise sources for the exterior of the vehicle using advanced CFD tools such as Powerflow and OpenFOAM

  • Post process results to display SPL levels at different frequency ranges on surfaces of interest

  • Carry out further post processing to identify interior noise levels

  • Work closely with NVH development team to pro-actively develop CFD modeling timeline, build CFD models in conjunction with the aerodynamics CFD team and provide results and design guidelines in a timely fashion

  • Interact closely with aerodynamic CFD team to ensure model integrity and consistency

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program

  • Strong theoretical understanding of fluid dynamics and acoustics

  • Working knowledge of CFD software -- Powerflow/OpenFOAM

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited or equivalent program

  • Three years of experience in Computational Aero Acoustics (CAA) with demonstrated experience in using CAA tools to drive design

  • Exposure to NVH testing methods including wind tunnel testing procedures for wind noise

  • Working knowledge of vibro-acoustics simulation tools

  • Working knowledge of mesh generation tools such as ANSA

  • Prior exposure to aerodynamics and wind noise testing

Skills and Competencies * Working knowledge of DMM, Oscilloscope, Video Scope etc. * Hybrid, Hyrdaulic, ECU, or ADAS product/test experience desired. * Experience with automotive requirements and design preferred. * Working knowledge of product development and product testing engineering practices in automotive field. * Working knowledge of ISO/IED standards. * Working knowledge of HIL procedures and equipment * Working knowledge in planned and structured approach * Working knowledge of problem solving techniques * Troubleshooting and debugging skills * Knowledge of structured problem solving (8D) methods and/or techniques Work Environment * Matlab/Simulink, dSpace, Labview, model based development tools. * Working knowledge of CAN and LIN based tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape, neoVI and other automotive networks and related tools.
