The Pratt & Whitney Aero Thermal Fluids has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Aero Thermal Engineer to support the propulsion system thermal integration. Strong heat transfer and fluid dynamics background needed along with experience in system integration. A working knowledge of CFD design tools is required to provide a fundamental understanding of complex flow fields and to inform system level network solvers with more robust loss characteristics and thermal models with more representative boundary conditions. Experience in FAR33 and FAR25 cooling and ventilation certification process along with heat exchanger design, sizing and system integration is desirable. Experience with aircraft integration systems including environmental control and anti-ice would be ideal.
Designing and modeling ventilation systems for commercial and military jet engines from concept initiation to product implementation.
Lead cross functional team to manage and integrate propulsion system thermal demands and cooling requirements.
Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Minimum of 6 years of thermal design or system integration experience required.
US Citizenship is required due to Government contract.
Ability to obtain security clearance is required.
Master s' Degree or PhD preferred.
Strong background in fluid dynamics, heat transfer.
Good communication and presentation skills.
Previous experience in an Engine development / Certification program, and experience with Nacelles, Externals or Aircraft interfaces is a plus.
Prior team leadership experience desired.
