Imaging Science Engineering position to develop engineering solutions on a complex commercial inkjet product line, with a focus on research and development. This position requires the ability to develop novel solutions utilizing machine learning and data science tools, to create integrated automation solutions.

Requires experience applying engineering analysis to solve production ink jet printer system problems. Must have broad based R&D skills, including optical, mechanical and software skills. Requires a team player with analytical and problem-solving skills. Travel up to 10% required.

Duties include:

  • Work with various development teams to identify and develop strategic and unique solutions

  • Evaluate proposed development solutions using controlled laboratory and field tests and analyze test results

  • Optimization of printer systems via statistical and numerical techniques as well as computer vision/machine learning applications

  • Invent new mechanisms to mitigate image/print quality issues

  • Develop feedback for automated printer control

  • Prepare and present detailed test reports for executive management, and engineering teams as required

Required skills

  • Master's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic Imaging Engineering or Physics, with a background in applied mathematics or statistics

  • Rapid prototyping skills using MATLAB, Python or other equivalent development tools

  • Software programing skills using C/C++

  • Flexible and self-motivated -- with a problem solver's altitude

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally in a team environment

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to redirect efforts and change focus in response to changing business needs

Preferred skills

  • Understanding of machine learning and data analysis techniques

  • Familiarity with electronic imaging devices such as line scan cameras, spectrophotometers, densitometers, etc

  • Knowledge of SDK development

Education and experience

  • Engineering or equivalent MS degree

  • This is a non-entry level position

A Day in the Life The Data Quality Analyst will interact primarily with the internal development team and internal data consumer groups – R & D, Quality & Reliability, Sales & Marketing. This position will have two focus areas: 1) make sure the data integration preserves the accuracy of the source data and 2) test and monitor the data models that are interpreting the source data. SQL and Machine Learning tools will be used on a daily basis. Some travel may be required. All team members are currently located on-site. Responsibilities Include: * Evaluate large data sets for quality and accuracy. * Identify and resolve data quality problems. * Determine impact of data quality issues. * Work with Curators and Consumers to correct data quality errors. * Participate in root cause investigations for data quality errors. * Develop process improvements to monitor and improve overall data quality. * Develop and execute data cleanup measures. * Develop and execute data model monitoring tools. * Identify areas of improvement to achieve data quality.
