Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Advisor - TRIO-SSS. The Advisor works alongside the TRIO-SSS Director in providing support and guidance to students while coordinating the program's efforts of academic preparedness through data collection and analysis. The Academic Advisor contributes to a positive campus climate by maintaining strong relationships with members of the Nevada State community. The position is grant-funded through August 31, 2025.

TRIO is a set of federally-funded college opportunity programs that motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their pursuit of a college degree. 790,000 low-income, first-generation students and students with disabilities - from sixth grade through college graduation - are served by over 2,800 programs nationally. TRIO programs provide academic tutoring, personal counseling, mentoring, financial guidance, and other supports necessary for educational access and retention.

Nevada State University currently houses the following TRIO Programs: Student Support Services (SSS), Upward Bound (UB), and McNair Scholars. As part of the Division of Student Affairs, TRIO SSS works collaboratively across campus departments to offer holistic support and programming for students as they navigate their college experience while promoting campus-wide initiatives.
