The Security Ambassador performs routine security duties to maintain order and protect the Adventureland property, guests, and staff. Monitors and screens individuals leaving and entering the park. Screens people and packages or personal items entering the park using a variety of detection methods; provides information and assistance to the general public; assists with emergency operations or emergency medical situations as needed.

Adventureland Seasonal Security Ambassador
Roles & Responsibilities:
Monitors entrance and exit positions and conducts screening of incoming individuals, packages, and personal items using electronic metal detectors, visual detection, and other approved security methods; screens guests in an efficient manner in order to expedite admittance to the park.
Detects and confiscates weapons, contraband, or suspicious items; detains individuals as provided by the State of Iowa statutes and turn them over to law enforcement personnel; notifies Adventureland security staff of potential high-risk situation; observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity.
Provides information and responds to questions from individuals accessing the park; assists employees and the public in locating appropriate areas within the property; assists the disabled in accessing services; interacts with each individual in a courtesy, respectful, and pleasant manner.
Renders first aid and summons medical personnel to the park when appropriate, provides assistance and direction during potential or actual emergency situations including flood, fire, tornado, bomb threats, riots, and/or disturbances.
Performs related duties as required.
Requirements
Education: A minimum of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Languages: English
Skills:
Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to search and seizure as well as the civil rights of individuals.
Knowledge of protective systems, methods, and techniques used for detecting and interdicting efforts to breach security
Knowledge of electronic security screening equipment and techniques as well as operation of screening equipment, and metal detectors.
Excellent interpersonal skills: Ability to use tact when interacting with a disruptive person and effectively diffuse confrontations; Interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement, personnel, co-workers, and the general public.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Firmly and fairly enforce rules and regulations.
Computer proficiency
Good judgment and decision-making skills in responding to situations.
Strong attention to detail; Remain visually and mentally alert in order to rapidly identify and respond to security problems or hazards and take immediate and appropriate action to intervene.
Ability to maintain composure during an emergency or stressful situations.
Ability to maintain public trust and put individuals at ease during stressful situations.
Ability to hear audio alerts and alarms and conversational voice.
Ability to perform repetitive motions involving reaching head-to-toe, bending, and twisting.
Ability to stand on hard surfaces for 7 hours daily.
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
