Reporting to the Practice Manager and under thesupervision of the Providers, the Medical Assistant Fast Tracker (MA) caresfor patients and performs a wide variety of patient care activities. Adheres to state, federal and organizationalguidelines to ensure quality care and patient safety with support from the

Clinical Excellence team. Is essential in maintaining organization andfacilitating patient flow. Actively participates in outstanding customerservice and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that areequally respectful to all.

  • Drives customerservice initiatives by creating and owning the patient experience

  • Performs properlyand legibly documents and reports all procedures and assessments in accordancewith department policy.

  • Utilizingage-specific guidelines, assesses patient during clinical check-in, documentspertinent medical information and vital signs. Assesses for signs of abuse orneglect.

  • May performand administer treatments, medications and any follow-up assessments ordered bythe provider, verifying as needed. Respondsappropriately in clinical emergencies and triage situations.

  • Performsdiagnostic and occupational medicine testing to include, but not limited to,EKG, spirometry, audiometry, titmus and pulse oximetry. Completes forensictesting collections in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and

Florida Drug Free Workplace Guidelines. This may include urine drug screens,blood/breath alcohol testing, oral fluids and hair testing.

  • Appropriately completecheck-out duties and relays instructions/care to the patient or family Performsrequired Quality Control checklist to ensure safety of the patient

  • Follows CDCguidelines, infection prevention practices, demonstrates appropriate use ofPPE, performs hand washing according to policy and follows safety regulations.

  • Participates indepartmental performance improvement initiatives

  • May be calledupon to train newly hired clinical staff


  • Comprehensiveknowledge of general medical assistant practices

  • Demonstratedability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending

English effectively in order to carry out job requirements

  • Ability tooperate a computer, copier, fax and scanner

  • Ability toestablish and maintain effective working relationships with patients,employees, and others of diverse backgrounds

  • Ability tomulti-task efficiently in a fast pace, high patient volume environment

Schedule: M-F 10a-6:30p May have to work some holidays


  • Strong critical thinking skills


  • Graduate of accreditedmedical assistant program


  • Previous MAexperience

  • Previous urgentcare / ED experience

Work Hours/Shifts: On Call: Hours and Days will vary Job Summary: Under general supervision performs General Sonographic procedures in accordance with department protocols. Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required: * Abdomen, Abdominal Doppler, OB/Gyn, Small Parts, and Interventional Sonographic Procedures * Ability to learn and master new tasks related to the computer and AGFA Pacs system * Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds * Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment (Preferred) * Good organizational skills (Preferred) * Breast Sonography (Preferred) * Pediatric and Neuro Sonography (Preferred) * Arm and Leg Venous Doppler (Winter Park and Apopka Hospitals only) (Preferred) * Graduate of Ultrasound Program * Associate or Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related field (Preferred) Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required: * 3DMS, N3DS and P3DS must possess a minimum of three ARDMS registries (ABD and OB/Gyn plus one additional registry)) * BLS certification Job Responsibilities: Demonstrates through behavior AdventHealth's Core Values of Keep Me Safe, Love Me, Make it Easy an Own it * Consistently obtains the highest quality scans possible in relation to patient body habitus and/or NPO prep status as observed by Radiologists, Ultrasound Educator, and Ultrasound Manager. Always follows proper exam protocols as outlined in department Policy and Procedure manual. Utilizes two patient identifiers to confirm patient/exam accuracy before administering exam. [Exam Supervision and Administration] * Reviews all images on Ultrasound machine or IMPAX (PACS) and thoroughly fills out Ultrasound worksheet in a timely manner. Rescans patient as requested by Radiologist. Is open to critique of exams by Radiologist and/or department Manager/ Educator. [Diagnostic Image Quality and Documentation] * Completes exams in a timely manner. Properly and consistently evaluates patient prep status and schedules exam accordingly. Demonstrates ability to coordinate acceptable patient throughput in either an IP and/or OP setting keeping the department on schedule and maintaining desired productivity. Follows direction from Manager and Lead Sonographer. All FT and PT dayshift/weekday employees must participate in the System back up call rotation. [Personal Productivity and Accountability] * Utilizes computer system to update exam status, cancel/update orders as needed. Ensures charges match procedure completed. Confirms proper exam/patient assignment at QC before releasing images to PACS for interpretation. Corrects erroneous accession numbers in PACS when needed. Notifies Radiologist Facilitator (RF) and transmits required worksheet and requisition for all after-hours cases. Effective knowledge of all Information Systems used in the Ultrasound department. [Data Processing] * Operates and maintains Ultrasound equipment in a safe manner. Adheres to all infection control standards. Employee job duties may include handling and disposal of hazardous material (Hazmat) waste. Employee will be required to complete initial training (prior to handling Hazmat waste) and refresher training to include proper handling and disposal of Hazmat waste, and proper selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment. Follows guidelines for proper use of GUS unit. Washes hands before and after every patient encounter. [Safety and the Environment of Care] * Performs a full range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures and operates all ultrasound equipment in assigned department. Is willing and able to rotate between multiple campuses/US departments as needed. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective procedures on patients of all ages (neonate/infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatrics). The knowledge and skills are acquired through in-service, continuing education and/or experience. Demonstrates a willingness to learn/adapt to new technologies and protocols and help develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers and students. [Clinical Competence] * Assists with data collection for KPI's while understanding the department performance trends and established standards. Contributes toward process improvement by serving on PI teams as assigned. Participates in department Gallup and patient satisfaction initiatives. Utilizes patient service recovery resources when appropriate. [Performance Improvement] * Attends department meetings consistently and promotes positive dialogue with respect to department objectives. Listens and is responsible to understand all agenda items. Attends all other meetings as required.
