We are seeking an enthusiastic professional Advancement and Recruitment Specialist who is passionate about cultivating the school's mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance, and review in order to ensure successful development of each student.

This position is a full-time position for the Raleigh County Campus and will report directly to the Department Manager. The position will work collaboratively with management, faculty and staff within the department and college to serve the best interests of the students.

Job Summary

The Advancement and Recruitment Specialist participates in the planning, direction, and administration of all aspects of recruiting and the admissions process for prospective and newly admitted students. The position is responsible for identifying, developing, nurturing, and sustaining strong relationships with community leaders and serves as an external liaison for the College with local, state, and regional organizations.

Nature of Work

The principal responsibility for all phases of the recruiting process, events planning, and assists with the development and implementation of the annual recruitment plan. This non-classified position reports to the campus Director & Community Outreach (RCC/NCC) and provides college wide oversight for planning and participating in meaningful recruitment events and activities with the goal of connecting with prospective students.

Examples of Duties

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates, plans, schedules, and participates in relevant recruitment events for five campus locations and additional off campus sites.

  • Participates in the College's plan for community involvement and public engagement.

  • Participates in college wide fundraising and development efforts within the strategic plans of the College.

  • Identifies, prioritizes, and plans community outreach activities in coordination with community events within New River CTC's service region.

  • Gives large and small group presentations while speaking informatively and enthusiastically on behalf of the college, its academic programs, and student services.

  • Develops and implements activities to bring community members to New River CTC's campuses and locations and assists with tours.

  • Serves as the point of contact for assigned schools (K12) for presentations and recruitment within the department.

  • Develops methods (strategies, activities, and programs) to increase and strengthen business and industry partnerships within the College's service region.

  • Assists with budget management and reporting on event/outreach activities.

  • Analyzes, evaluates, and works with Communications to create effective materials for recruiting.

  • Responsible for maximizing student enrollment and assisting with reaching the overall targeted student enrollment goal. Recruit prospective traditional and nontraditional students while providing information regarding admission requirements, the steps to enroll and assessing their educational needs.

  • Coordinate and oversee group campus visits and assist campuses in conducting individual tours for prospective students and parents as needed.

  • Assist in the execution of a territory recruitment management plan for assigned areas.

  • Identifies new target markets while creating and implementing new recruitment strategies.

  • Responsible for scheduling, planning, organizing, and attending activities that are directly related to the recruitment of students (lead generation). This includes high school activities, college fairs, Career and Technical Centers, Workforce WV centers, civic/community organizations.

  • Responsible for sourcing leads from various resources: ACT score reports, local Chamber of Commerce's, job boards, community programs, referrals, current students, organizations, and other innovative avenues.

  • Assists with updating and executing the Annual Recruitment Plan.

  • Conduct ongoing follow-up communication with inquiries to include written communication, phone calls, emails, and mailings to determine their level of interest, educational needs, and addressing any questions in a timely manner.

  • In collaboration with the Director of Enrollment Services, assist with the college orientation program and open house events.

  • Responsible for table, display, or booth setup and disassembly at events and/or functions.

  • Manage and track the number of lead contacts from events and track number of participants through the college inquiry system.

  • Assist the Office of Admissions during peak enrollment periods and develop a basic understanding of other Student Service departments ad their departmental functions.

  • Maintain an inventory of recruitment fact sheets, publications, materials, and recruitment supplies for recruiting events.

  • Serve as liaison, as needed, between the college, academic departments, media personnel and the public at large regarding college recruiting activities and events.

  • Coordinates the resources to link needs of local business residents to appropriate resources for career guidance, preemployment training, workforce training/education, and development of career focused certificate programs.

  • Assist the Executive Director of the College Foundation and serve a a vital component for a multitude of fundraising initiatives.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • TRAVEL is required on a regular and recurring basis for community outreach events, conferences, travel between campuses, and other College related matters.

Professional Development

  • Compliance training is to be completed routinely and in a timely manner.

  • Participate in additional professional development opportunities through LinkedIn Learning and professional organization affiliations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree required

Master's degree preferred

Experience

In addition to the knowledge/education, the following related work experiences is typically required for this position. An equivalent combination of education and recent, related higher education, specifically community college experience may be acceptable in lieu of academic credentials.

Experience in Sales, Marketing, and Recruitment 2+ years is required.

Experience in Philanthropy/Fundraising 1+ year is preferred.

License or Certification

Valid Driver's License is required
