Intralox, L.L.C., a world leader in the manufacturing of plastic conveyer belting and a growing division of the Harahan-based Laitram, L.L.C., has a position available for a Quality Supervisor. The Quality Supervisor will plan, organize, and coordinate the plant's quality activities and will be responsible for programs relative to the assigned plant to ensure implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. This position will report to the Quality Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Quality Inspectors, Technicians, Specialists and Engineers in our Advanced Quality Assurance area

  • Train quality subordinates, developing their product knowledge and improving their work duties on their respective shifts and locations

  • Work with quality technical group to help implement and develop statistical methods of process control and improvement ensuring the processes are intact and procedures are followed on a daily basis

  • Work with New Products Engineering and Production to ensure that new products are adequately evaluated and approved for release

  • Conduct and establish FMEA, MSA, Control Plans and PPAP as part of the new product release

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and improvement of quality drawings, specifications, and the Quality Manual for our global Quality Management System

  • Ensure that specifications, standard processes, and operations are being maintained

  • Audit quality system insuring adherence to Quality Manual procedures

  • Evaluate causes of scrap and work toward the elimination of such defects

  • Drive continuous improvement

  • Lead and direct associates on quality standards

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years of experience in quality, industrial, or manufacturing engineering

  • Possess strong knowledge of statistical analysis techniques, production control methods, best practices in engineering controls, and industrial time study techniques

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deal effectively with all levels of management and shop floor employees

  • Have the ability to work with all departments to ensure effective teamwork, to maintain proper equipment, and motivate personnel to assist in the effective and efficient operation of the system

  • Ability to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish the goals of the plant and corporation

  • Experience with a wide variety of visual dimensional inspection methods and equipment, as well as an understanding of the strengths and limitations of each

  • Possess a quantitative understanding of measurement precision, accuracy, and uncertainty and the ability to optimize measurement effectiveness

  • Skilled in the analysis and presentation of data, including basic statistics, process capability analysis, gage R&R's, etc.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds

  • Availability to work overtime and on weekends as required

  • Ability to travel internationally on occasion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering

  • Current American Society for Quality Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ CQE), or background to obtain certification

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, or background to obtain certification

  • Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility
