Job Description:

Parsons is seeking an Advanced Project Engineer (Electrical) to provide technical facilities electrical engineering expertise to the Missile Defense Agency. Assess electrical technical/engineering issues and aid in evaluating technical alternatives. Support electrical planning, design, and execution of new construction, renovation, and equipment upgrade projects. Previous electrical facility project engineering experience is a prerequisite for this position. Travel 0-4 weeks per quarter.


  • Support the Government Project Manager to plan, program, design, execute, and document electrical Military Construction (MILCON) and sustainment, restoration, and modernization (SRM) projects.

  • The candidate must display the ability and experience to interact with and coordinate electrical facilities engineering tasks with the government customer, host installations, A&E firms, and executing agencies.

  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary technical team on facility projects.

  • Develop electrical project scopes of work

  • Provide electrical construction surveillance

  • Prepare project briefings in Microsoft PowerPoint and information papers in Microsoft Word

  • Draft, review, and contribute to technical reports and documentation

  • Obtain, analyze, distribute, and archive technical and contractual information

  • Draft, review, and process electrical change proposals

  • Participate in decision-making meetings with project stakeholders

  • Must also have a working knowledge of:

USACE/NAVFAC/DPW construction project execution

Construction projects, shop drawings, RFIs and submittal reviews

  • Project planning and design scoping sessions/charrettes

  • Facility electrical assessments, facility electrical operations, master planning, and environmental issues, and related impacts

Experience / Education Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering (Electrical) and a Masters degree in Engineering

  • 12+ years of relevant experience

  • Broad general facility electrical engineering background

  • Demonstrated project electrical engineering experience in support of scheduling, planning, programming, design, construction, operations, environmental, and start-up aspects of facility/infrastructure related projects

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software

  • Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance

Preferred/Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license

  • PMP

Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.

This position can be performed near Seattle WA or Anchorage, AK. Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited college in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree. The candidate shall have comprehensive knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electric Code,) NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in Workplace,) and NFPA 780 (Standard for the Installation of Lightning Protection Systems.) The candidate shall prepare electrical calculations and studies and originate complete construction packages that include calculations, drawings and specifications for new or existing air traffic control facilities with complex power distribution and HVAC systems. The candidate shall possess significant experience in engineering of power distribution systems and grounding of mission critical facilities that including one or more of the following: single-phase systems, three-phase systems, one or more commercial power service, backup engine generators, DC systems, etc. Large campus distribution is a plus; low voltage experience is necessary, medium voltage is a plus. The candidate must have experience in conducting complete calculations and studies by hand and by using nationally recognized electrical analysis software. The required calculations and studies include load flow; voltage drop; short circuit current; sizing of transformers, generators; complete low voltage protective device coordination studies; and arc flash hazard energy calculations. The candidate will be required to prepare electrical calculations, studies, technical reports, cost estimates; and review and analyze complete electrical construction packages prepared by others that will include all of the above, and review construction packages of other engineering disciplines for coordination with electrical design. The candidate must be a self-starter and have good communication skills to coordinate project activities of a multi-cultural and cross-functional team including clients and contractors.
