Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the deployment of the design elements of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
This assignment will be for the Peoria area APQP Deployment groups.

Summary:

Research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
Five to seven engineering experience required.
Skills and Competencies:


Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
Team player and detail oriented.
Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field.
Major Job Duties and

Responsibilities:

Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.
Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects. Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software.
Education Requirement:

Must have Mechanical, Electrical, or Agriculture Engineer Degree.
Soft Skills Required:

Good verbal communication is a MUST! Please screen you candidates in person to verify that they have good communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment
Detail Orientated
Good follow-through in reporting
Typical Day:

The person in this position will be expected to use a specific suite of tools to execute the APQP process.
These include Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Boundary Diagrams, Interface Analyses, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEA s), A&B High Risk Parts Assessment, P-Diagrams, Noise Factor Management, and Design Verification Plans & Reports (DVP&R s) and CPI/NPI issues.
The person in this position will help deliver a comprehensive list of recommended design actions, special process controls, and validation activities to mitigate high risk areas.

8:00am to 4:00pm

Exact machines will be dependent on the location and department you are hired to. Machines may include: * Lathe * Automatic * Turret * Engine * Tracer * Single Spindle Automatic Screw * Multi-Spindle Automatic Cutoff * Gear Grinding * Mill, Drill, and Bore Based on your previous experience and machining knowledge, Caterpillar will determine which machines will best suit you.
