3M is seeking an Advanced Product Engineer for the Electronics & Energy Business Group, Display Materials and Systems Division (DMSD), located in Maplewood, MN. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.
The person hired for this position will primarily be responsible for driving continuous quality improvement, customer alignment, and scale up of high quality, robust new web-based optical film products. The engineer will support the DMSD business which produces a variety of LCD enhancement films for Mobile, Notebook, Monitor, and TV applications.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Driving manufacturing cost and product yield improvement projects.
Leading local and global management of change projects focused on communication, risk evaluation and execution of process and product changes.
Supporting local and global manufacturing teams on rapid resolution of customer complaints; including timely response, communication and implementation of corrective actions.
Supporting successful NPI scale up and launch of new DMSD products.
Leading and supporting quality improvement projects in manufacturing.
Using Lean, Six Sigma and Value stream tools to drive improvements.
Providing manufacturing leadership and support for the local and global manufacturing of the division's products.
Leading manufacturing technology advancements.
Performing capability assessments and cost estimates for new opportunities.
Driving process development, recommend new equipment and modification to support cost improvements and new product introductions.
Maintaining awareness of customer needs and industry trends and translate those into measurable specifications and test methods for product development and manufacturing.
Other duties as assigned.
Possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Minimum of one (1) year of combined experience in manufacturing and/or product/process development in a private, public, government or military environment
Technical experience in polymer film extrusion, web handling, microreplication, clean coating, lamination, slitting, rotary die converting, and/or punch press converting
Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
Minimum of three (3) years of experience utilizing statistical tools in problem solving is preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of experience on working in a manufacturing environment is preferred
Minimum of three (3) years on New Product Development and Commercialization Teams is preferred
Minimum of three (3) years on Quality Improvement and Cost Reduction projects is preferred
Experience with unit cost modeling
Experience leading or participating on cross functional teams
Location: Maplewood, MN
Travel: May include up to 25% (domestic and/or international)
Relocation: Is authorized
