Position Summary
Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, referral and follow-up for patients seen in the Clinical Services area of the Health Department. This position, with a high degree of autonomy, functions as a physician extender and provides healthcare services to include preventive, acute and chronic care.
Essential Functions
Ensure compliance with agreement addenda requirements and agency policies and procedures for STI, Family Planning, Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) and/or Tb/Refugee programs
Obtain and review patient histories and perform physical exams and assessments
Formulate care plan and provides patient counseling and education
Order and review labwork and diagnostic tests
Prescribe medication and determine patient follow up
Document in EMR in a timely fashion.
Bill and code appropriately
Coordinate treatment and plan with clinical staff and other physicians, when indicated
Assists staff with other nursing or medication related duties as needed
Participate in public health emergency response activities as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:

Education:
Graduation from a nurse practitioner or physician assistant program approved by the NC Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners.

Licenses and Certifications
Maintain Medical Board License as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
CPR certification
Obtain required FEMA certifications (upon hire if not already obtained).
