The Michigan Medicine Child Protection Team (CPT) consists of a Medical Director (board-certified Child Abuse Pediatrician), child abuse pediatrician, two, full-time dedicated social workers, and clerical support.
Evaluation of suspected victims of child abuse
Performing and documenting complete history and physical examinations
Performing inpatient consults in C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and the Burn Unit
Performing consults in the Michigan Medicine Pediatric Emergency Department
Performing outpatient clinic visits independently at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital (including telemedicine visits) and the Washtenaw County Child Advocacy Center
Educating students, Pediatric/Internal Medicine-Pediatric/Family Medicine residents, Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellows and the community at large regarding child abuse
Integration of evidence-based medicine into clinical practice
Interpretation of clinical evaluations, laboratory results, and diagnostic imaging reports.
Ordering tests and prescribing medications under the supervision of a physician
Coordination of care and initiating internal/external referrals as appropriate
Documenting consultations and clinic visits in the electronic medical record
Working collaboratively with the Child Protection Team, other Michigan Medicine staff, and community partners

A minimum of one year experience required as a NP or PA - preferred in pediatrics
PALS certification current or ability to obtain
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
Current specialty certification to practice as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
Satisfactory completion of a physician assistant program accredited by NCCPA or one of its predecessor agencies.
Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.
Under Michigan Law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of employment or transfer for this position.

More than one year clinical experience as a NP/PA in pediatrics
Experience in the area of child abuse
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team
Demonstrated high level of critical thinking and medical knowledge based upon current evidence-based medicine
Ability to prioritize assignments and manage a busy work environment
Demonstrated ability to communicate assertively as a patient advocate
Hours: variable based on unit needs
