Adapt treatment to new, experimental, and ground-breaking theories in the focus of diverse patient care, from inpatient to outpatient settings, as well as from available risk management data, supporting the investigation of new drugs.
Analyze epidemiological, biostatistical, environmental, and other appropriate scientific data, related to individual, aggregate, and population health
Assess acute and non-acute clinical problems.
Perform a systematic physical examination and interpret abnormal and normal findings to form a diagnosis regarding physical, emotional, or social disabilities.
Participate in patient care rounds and conferences, presenting patient cases/topics and communicating patient management strategies to members of the patient care team.
Initiate, implement, and oversee disease management/ education programs, addressing the education/self-care needs, identified by the patient/family.
Coordinate and/or conduct in-service education programs for health care professionals and serves as an advisor/member of committees, as assigned
Collaborate throughout the organization with nursing and medical staff.

This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Basic Requirements for Nurse Practitioner:
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. You must attach a copy of your transcripts with your application package.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Advanced Education: Applicants must possess a graduate or higher level Nurse Practitioner degree from an accredited educational program. You must attach a copy of your transcripts with your application package.
License/Registration: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. You must attach a copy of your license/registration with your application package.
Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Positions: Applicants must possess a license or registration by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States as a Nurse Practitioner. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working in a Preventive Medicine/Public Health Nursing clinic; and/or patient management of infectious/communicable diseases (such as surveillance, diagnosis, treatment and prevention). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
