Advanced Matlab/Simulink Modeling Engineer

  • This role requires knowledge and experience in creating models in MATLAB/Simulink- not using MATLAB/Simulink but creating the models to be used.

  • The ideal candidate will have experience inModelBased Engineering in Matlab/Simulink.

  • This is not embedded software engineering- but Model Based Engineering demonstrated experience is needed, ideally in high voltage automotive systems.

  • Work within a team of Powertrain controls, calibrations and integration engineers to develop electrified powertrain charging systems for current and next-generation electrified powertrains

  • Support High Voltage (HV) controls including AC and DC charging, HV management, 12V management and innovation projects related to HV charging.

  • Partner with the requirements teams to understand the standards related to DC charging Develop the algorithms and controls in Simulink.


Required Engineering Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in controls, calibration, validation Powertrain and/or ePT engineering

  • 2+ years of dedicated, professional experience in model based development in Matlab/Simulink

  • Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle and powertrain functions

  • Strong problem solving, interpersonal, technical problem solving and communication skills

  • Must be strong team player willing to work in fast paced environment actively supporting multiple projects

Engineering Education Required

  • Bachelors of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering

Preferred Engineering Experience & Skills

  • 8+ years of experience in controls, calibration, validation Powertrain and/or ePT engineering

  • Experience with Electrified Powertrain Controls and High Voltage

  • Experience with Embedded Software

  • Experience with data acquisition and analysis tools such as ETAS-INCA and CANalyzer

  • Specialization in classical and modern control disciplines with vehicle application

  • Knowledge of powertrain control system architecture/best practices

Engineering Education Preferred

  • Masters in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace, Engineering

The candidate must be a strong team player, systems focused with interdisciplinary experience and expertise; the Engineer must be willing to work in fast-paced environment. In this position, he/she is expected to interface with various teams (ePT, PTEE, PT Applications, EE) to drive SySML Model diagramming and simulations for various advanced projects using Rhapsody. The Engineer will be working with global teams for System Requirement model development and Libraries along with developing the modeling process. Other responsibilities include, but not limited to system requirement model verification, interfacing with suppliers and working with teams on processes, methodologies and tools. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive System Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other suitable degree related to Engineering from an accredited university * 5 years of experience in the automotive industry * Demonstrated technical problem solving * Experience with automotive powertrain plant and controller modeling, simulation, development, testing, and validation * Experience with data acquisition and analysis tools such as CanAlyzer/Canoe * Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK/Rhapsody/NoMagic * Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills * Strong ability to work directly with individuals and groups * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written * Self-starter who can work cross-functionally with other people * Good understanding of the development of simulation models Preferred Qualifications: * Master of Science degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering from an accredited University * Thorough understanding of gasoline and diesel engines, electrified powertrain * Flexibility - must be able to adapt to changing environment with minimal effect on productivity * Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of management Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Auburn Hills MI
