Job Introduction

Development and Preparation of system and manufacturing concepts(build sequences), layout, design, cycle time charts, capacity and efficiency calculation and working station documentation.

Major Responsibilities

  • Development and Preparation of system and manufacturing concepts (build sequences), layout design, cycle time charts, capacity and efficiency calculation and working station documentation

  • Development and improvements of standard manufacturing cells, processes and concepts for assembly system including Logistics and Quality

  • Support of GD&T / Tolerance Studies, Clamping Plans and development of P-FMEA documentation

  • Support of change management for process and quotes

  • Support of continuous improvement for Corporate Assembly Standards

  • Development and support of Cosma process engineers in facilities located globally

  • Support of Project Managers and Division Production Teams

  • Other duties that may be assigned

  • Understands and follows established rules, procedures and policies relating to position

  • Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures

Knowledge and Education

  • Technical education e.g. technical school, college or special studies (mechanical/electrical engineering)

Work Experience

  • Min. (5) years work experience in automotive assembly and SPOT/GMAW welding

Skills and Competencies

  • Chassis and Body-In-White Welding and fixture design experience

  • Advanced GD&T knowledge and interpretation

  • Excellent English skills (fluent in spoken and written, presentation skills)

  • Proficiency in ACAD, MS Office is required

  • Experience with Spin Fire, Vis View, MS Project and asset

  • Experience with 3D Process Software an asset

  • Excellent understanding of 3D CAD design

  • German and Spanish Written & Spoken Language an asset

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel globally and have valid travel documents

  • Excellent leadership skills, self motivated, team player

  • Must be able to repetitively utilize their forearms, wrists, and hands throughout the work-day. Accordingly, must be able to tolerate the use of key-board, mouse, and/or space ball up to 75% of work-day (i.e. up to 6-8 hours per work-day.)

  • Travel is required.

This senior-level leadership position will lead the technical strategy and grow the market segment in the Advanced Manufacturing Sector that includes additive manufacturing technologies, materials, processes, automation, and in situ nondestructive monitoring processes. The Advanced Manufacturing Group Manager will utilize existing research facilities, to establish new laboratory capabilities, build a comprehensive research program and technical team to support activities, and engage with industry, universities, and government laboratory communities to build collaborative programs. The successful candidate will also drive innovation, research, development, and demonstration of solutions while leading a cross-functional group to engage with external vendors and networks. Areas of Responsibilities: * Subject matter expert in additive manufacturing technologies, processes, and materials * New business development centered on development and characterization of additive manufactured materials, processes, and in situ monitoring processes * Lead competitive proposal writing and partnering activities in support of additive manufacturing technologies * Publish technical articles/journals related to advanced additive manufacturing technologies * Present technical work at reputable conferences and workshops throughout North America and abroad * Primary Customer Interface * Program Development and Management * Proposal Writing * Project Management * Laboratory Design and Management * Test Design * Organizing, Leading, and Engaging Cross-Functional Team(s) or Engineers Experience, Education and Skills: * MS or PhD in Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical, or Aerospace Engineering or a related field required. * Minimum 10 years' experience related to Materials Characterization and Evaluation and/or Materials Processing focused on advanced/additive manufacturing required. * Strong background in additive manufacturing processes, materials characterization techniques, non-destructive evaluation, and design of structures and systems using additively manufactured materials is preferred. * Project leadership and project management experience preferred, with a history of successful program management. * Strong understanding in materials/process modeling preferred * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Must be creative, self-motivated, and efficient. * Some travel required. * Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance.
