Honeywell Process Solutions is in search of an Advanced Hardware Engineer for a role located at the Micro-Analysis Lab in Fort Washington, PA.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As an Advanced Hardware Engineer

  • Micro-Analysis, the primary focus is on ensuring built-in quality for New Product Development solutions by collaborating with Global and on-site engineers. This role involves conducting and supporting failure analysis investigations on electronic, electro-mechanical components, and Printed Wiring Board assemblies. The Hardware Engineer will play a key role in supporting quality evaluations and investigations across field, production, and New Product Development (NPD) products. The ideal candidate should possess practical experience in analyzing and evaluating the characteristics of electrical/electronic components, Printed Wiring Board (PWB) assemblies and mechanical assemblies analysis. The responsibilities also include hands-on involvement in failure analysis activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Global & on-site engineers
  • NPD Solutions to have built in quality.
  • Conduct and support failure analysis investigations on electronic, electro-mechanical components and PWB assemblies

  • Support quality evaluations and investigations on field, production and NPI products

  • Use of curve tracer, oscilloscope, LCR meter, micro probe station, and general-purpose electronic component test equipment for analysis and characterization

  • Perform de-potting, cross-sectioning, electrical testing on components and assemblies to find root cause of failure/issue.

  • Perform failure analysis on components to isolate and identify cause of failure/issue.

  • Evaluate electrical, thermal and mechanical characteristics of components, sub-components and PWB assemblies to determine cause of failure/issue.

  • Develop failure analysis report data and findings after analysis completion.

  • Maintain and oversee calibration of analysis equipment in the lab.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 5+ years of electronics hardware engineering and quality experience.

WE VALUE:

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, Materials Science/Engineering, or related field of study

  • 7+ years of electronics hardware engineering and quality experience.

  • Additional assets include knowledge in component-level electrical testing skills, mechanical and chemical de-potting electrical/electronic parts or assemblies, micro cross-sectioning, x-ray radiography, and the use of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS)

  • Familiar with IPC requirements

  • RoHS and WEEE compliance knowledge and experience

  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt training desired.

  • Experience of failure analysis in corrosion

  • Background using Highly Accelerated Stress Test (HALT), Highly Accelerated Stress Screen (HASS), and Burn In techniques a plus.

  • Engineering experience in a failure analysis laboratory environment would be a plus.

  • Focus on task completion and exceeding expectations.

  • Focus on problem solving.

  • Technical writing skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enable interface with customers.

  • Computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and with respect to generating reports.
