JOB SUMMARY: This is primarily a 911 response position on a transporting Advanced Life Support service. In addition to 911, the service provides Inter-facility transports (locally and regionally) and Public Event coverage.

The AEMT is responsible for the assessment and pre-hospital management of medical, trauma and environmental emergencies with/without supervision of a Paramedic and under the guidance of on/off-line medical control. Provide patient care, based on individual patient needs, acting within the scope of practice of an Advanced EMT.

Responds to both, emergency and non-emergent calls and transfers to provide efficient and immediate care to the ill and injured; and safely transports the patient to an appropriate medical facility. Maintain the ambulances and equipment in a clean and functional condition.

The Advanced EMT is responsible for establishing Intravenous / Intraosseous access, administration of medications and fluids, advanced airway management, as well as, other advanced medical skills within the Advanced EMT scope of practice.

Assists in the Emergency Department (ED) and other nursing departments with skills performed within the levels of training as needed, as available, and as directed for patient care. Such duties include, but are not limited to, vital signs, EKGs, IV insertions, specimen collection, transfers to the floor (when able), cleaning and preparation of rooms, direct observation of patients as requested, and jobs that can assist in patient care and ED flow.

Specific department policies and procedures should be followed. Attendance in ED training opportunities are encouraged as they arise in the department.

These expectations and job assignments are subject to change as the needs of the hospital deem appropriate. Patient transfers to the floor or other assignments to additional locations that inhibit prompt ambulance response times should be limited.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: 1 Year practical experience of patient care and the use of emergency equipment commonly accepted and employed; such as suction machines, monitor-defibrillators, oxygen delivery systems (installed and portable), backboards, splinting devices, stretchers, and light rescue tools. Knowledge of the territory within the service area, and the traffic ordinances and laws concerning the emergency care and transportation of the sick and injured is preferred. Knowledge of safety measures is required.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED preferred. Successful completion of a BOME approved Advanced EMT course or transition is required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: State of Montana Advanced EMT License is required.

National (NREMT) certification preferred. Current BLS, ACLS, PHTLS (or equivalent) required. EVOC (or equivalent) within the first year is required.

Valid State of Montana driver's license and excellent driving record is required. Must participate in a BOME approved AEMT refresher (or equivalent) and acquire requisite CEU's.

Aptitudes: Ability to achieve cognitive, organizational, and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers.

Possess the interpersonal communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, empathetic patient care, interpersonal relations, and customer service. Open to feedback and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments. Able to read and write in order to complete ambulance reports and other forms as well as perform basic arithmetic in order to calculate medication administration, supply requisitions, mileage, and time performance is required.

VIEW JOBS 3/12/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-10T00:00 JOB SUMMARY: Under the leadership of the Patient Access Director, St. Peters Health Regional Medical Center, the Patient Access Manager is responsible to manage the daily activities of the organization's switchboard, patient access specialists and patient scheduling functions to ensure a culture of customer service, professionalism and accountability and to develop a high level of integration within and between all locations. Specific duties include but are not limited to: development of effective scripts for patient access specialists, switchboard and scheduling functions; develop, implement and maintain performance metrics to ensure resources are meeting customer expectations and productivity guidelines; design, implement and maintain quality assurance auditing processes to ensure staff maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service; manage, supervise and coordinate the activities of entire department in providing telephone support and related services; acts as a liaison with the organization's Leadership Team, other leaders , and third parties to collect information, solve problems, and improve customer experience. Ensure staff meet performance goals and targets for speed, efficiency, and quality (accuracy, timeliness); identifies, recommends and implements operational changes to improve services, productivity, quality and/or financial performance; prepares and may present management reports demonstrating key metrics and performance level of the department; maintain current knowledge of industry new developments and technology and acts as the organization's "superuser" for any technology used in the department (e.g., Meditech, Avaya, Intellidesk, Patient Secure and others) and manages strong vendor relationships; works collaboratively with teams and departments within the organization to ensure full integration of the department functions within the organization; knowledgeable regarding HIPAA and other rules and regulations related to patient privacy and ensure staff are trained and comply with policies, procedures and regulations; may serve as a member of organizational committees and teams as assigned; fully participates and engages in leadership activities designed to improve the culture, i.e., rounding, thank you notes, scripting, appropriate staff communications, and ensures the department understand the strategic intent of the services provided to the organization's success. Acts as a liaison between the Volunteer Coordinator and the volunteers and coordinates and provides training for all volunteers in the department. Works closely with the Director for staff evaluations, the competency process, budget responsibility, authority to hire, discipline and terminate with the Director and/or HR approval and will provide evaluations when needed. This position will maintain the staffing and scheduling, call offs, coverage for vacations and sick, maintain attendance records for all employee within the department. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience and strength in professional and interpersonal communication skills (written, verbal and electronic), management of complex systems that provide services. Experience leading an access center in a healthcare setting preferred. Must be experienced in the use of management reports, i.e., Excel. Knowledgeable in the use of Meditech, Intellidesk, Patient Matters, and Patient Secure. EDUCATION: At least 5 years progressively responsible experience in a healthcare patient registration setting.
