We are looking for an Advanced Development/ Engineering Project Manager Senior Staff who takes pride in solving challenging problems and working within a team to develop state of the art laser technology. This exciting work will include leading teams in design and development of fiber laser based systems that are field deployable in military and commercial environments. The Advanced Development/Engineering Project Manager Senior Staff will work in an engineering team environment where research and cutting edge innovation are part of our culture. This position will:

  • Coordinate all activities of the design team, ensuring technical integrity, resource utilization and project priorities are understood/followed by the entire engineering team

  • Ensure collaboration and act as the overall Point of Contact (POC) between the RMS Engineering & Technology (E&T) organization and the Program Office, covering all engineering disciplines

  • Ensure that the program's processes/procedures are defined and followed, and the program's technical resource needs are met

  • Responsible for overall E&T cost, schedule, and technical program performance while ensuring overall technical integrity of the product and will provide an integrated engineering solution to the program

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ year of technical leadership;

  • Demonstrated ability as team player to build consensus among peers and build effective relationships with multiple customers;

  • Strong understanding of product development;

  • Experience in system engineering / system integration;

  • Proven budget management experience;

  • Proven schedule development and implementation experience;

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage change, identify issues, work with stakeholders to develop solutions.

  • Prior experience as EPM (Engineering Project Manager)

  • Prior experience as an IPT Lead

  • Exposure to Optical Engineering and Related Technologies

  • Must be able to obtain a secret clearance, no clearance required to start.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience or familiarity with Laser Weapon Systems, High Energy Lasers, or high-power fiber lasers;

  • Active Secret Clearance preferred.

Essential Job Functions: * Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. * Manage the on-going execution of the product development project plan through leadership of the with cross-functional project team and in compliance with QSR820.1 (FDA medical device) requirements. * Build and lead a Programs team focused on growth core company objectives. * Serve as a facilitator/mediator across departments, ensuring seamless coordination and communication. * Clearly identify, communicate, manage and mitigate project risks. * Communication project status to development and executive management. * Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle. * Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. * Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management. * Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle. Knowledge and Experience: * Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computers Science discipline, Masters desired. * 10+ years of experience in product development project management from concept development to production release. * Proven record of Managing accomplishments of cross functional teams in a matrix organization with key deadlines, with changing project scopes. * Experience with medical devices and medical device regulatory requirements in highly desirable areas. * Progressive software development across multiple project experience required. Skills and Abilities: * Ability to lift 25lbs with or without accommodations. * Excellent written and verbal presentation skills. * Strong leadership skills; self starter, good listening skills. * Good analytical and problem solving skills. * A proven track record of positively managing conflict.
