Job Summary and Qualifications

Role Summary:The advanced clinical pharmacist practices the profession of pharmacy with the utmost code of ethics demonstrating the organization's mission and values. The clinical pharmacist is responsible for the safe, effective, evidence-based, and cost-effective selection and utilization of medications for the patients in which they serve. The clinical pharmacist uses advanced knowledge, skills, and professional judgment in all aspects of his or her work. The clinical pharmacist serves as a patient advocate when planning and implementing pharmaceutical care within a multidisciplinary rounding team, collaborating with other healthcare professionals in a knowledgeable and professional manner. In addition, the advanced clinical pharmacist is expected to lead pharmacy services within the hospital by serving or chairing hospital committees, presenting at conferences and contributing to publications, and providing regular, formal education to pharmacy and interdisciplinary teams. The advanced clinical pharmacist is responsible for one or more specialty services within the hospital, such as infectious disease (ID), critical care, and pediatrics, among others. Adherence to all regulatory and medication safety guidelines are at the forefront of all actions and decisions made within the practice of the clinical pharmacist.

What qualifications you will need:

• Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Graduate of an accredited PGY-1 residency program
• Preferred Education: A residency and/or Pharm.D. degree is preferred
• Required License: An active license to practice in North Carolina, or eligible to become licensed in North Carolina within 60 days
• Preferred Credentials: Board certification in practice specialty
• Preferred Experience: 5 years previous hospital experience and/or a PGY 2 pharmacy residency is desirable
