The Advanced Automation Engineer will be responsible for New Autonomous Product Design for various pieces of Mining Machine Autonomy (Mining Shovels, Mining Drills, Mining Draglines, etc.).
Key Job Responsibilities
TheAdvanced Automation Engineer Rolewill be directly involved in the Technical Specification, Hardware Selection, Integration, Programming and Testing of systems designed toCompletely Automate Large Scale Mining Machines/Equipment. We are seeking an experienced candidate that understands the Product Design Lifecycle, Software Development/Maintenance and the Critical Characteristics of Reliable and User-Friendly Product Design.
This Role will beCollaborating in a Small Team Environment with a High Level of Autonomy and Freedom to Pursue Creative Design Ideas.
Our team uses an Agile Style of Product Development, so high quality candidates will be experienced self-starters that are capable of turning functional concepts into technical designs with a strong focus on end user experiences.
A Strong Desire to Continue Expanding One's Knowledge Base isimportantdue to the fact that Our Team Integrates Advanced and Emerging Technologies.
This Role will be most successful with an Individual whom trulyenjoys working on technology that they may not befamiliar with.....
Bachelor's degree- STEM related field.1+ year of Applicable Experience (Robotics, Sensors, SW, Programming, etc.).
Some Formal Education in programming (not necessarily a degree in programming)
Experience Integrating Control Actuating Hardware with Control Feedback (ie: linear actuators, encoders, sensors, etc.)
3-5 years of PLC and industrial HMI programming experience highly preferred.
Additional Desired Skills/Experience/Qualifications
Advanceddegree or higher in Electrical, Controls Engineering,Robotics/Mechatronics or arelated fieldwith 3+ years of related work experience. Autonomous vehicle control exposure/experiencepreferred.
Previous experience in System Integration involving Controls Programming.Experience with Control Architecture Design. Machine Learning experience.
Integration of Advanced Sensors such as RADAR, 2D/3D LiDAR, etc. Sensor Fusion experience is a plus.Integrating Positioning& Orientation Sensors such as HPGPS, Inertial Measurement, etc.
Prior experience in Advanced Control Algorithm Development such as Kalman Filters, State Feedback Control, PID Gain Calculation, Model Development, etc.
Knowledge of / Experience with Wireless Communication &/or Networking (configuration, setup, etc). Experience with
Industrial Communication Protocols (RS232/422/485, TCP/IP, CANOpen, J1939, ProfiBus/ProfiNet, EtherCAT, etc.)
