Job Title: Advanced Academics GT Specialist Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Reports To: Executive Dir. Advanced Academics Pay Grade: PA3-215 Days

Primary Purpose: To provide leadership in the testing and identification of gifted students throughout the district. To execute, coordinate, and lead processes and procedures in the testing and programming of gifted students district-wide. To provide campus(s) GT support for instructional coaching, parent/student support, programming and curriculum implementation.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree preferred
Valid Texas Teacher's certificate or such other credentials as may be required by the State Board for Educator Certification for this position
Gifted and Talented Certification and/or Gifted and Talented Endorsement may be required
Optional: other certification or experience that will assist with the testing, identification, and services of gifted students (such as LSSP/Diagnostician Certification), counseling, GT teacher of record, or GT campus liaison.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to initiate processes, activities, and lead programs with minimal supervision
Effective technology skills manipulating data in excel and other platforms
Thrives on high level of production
Flexible and confident in collaborating with campus staff including administrative leaders
Strong organizational, communication, technology, and interpersonal collaborative skills
Knowledge of curriculum and emotional/social needs of gifted and talented students
Knowledge of the district's advanced and gifted education curriculum and services
Knowledge of identification and assessment of gifted and talented students
Knowledge of GT special programs: Adv. Learner Services, STEAM, and LEAP
Knowledge of theories, models, and applications of creativity and higher order thinking skills such as (Kaplan's ICONS of Depth and Complexity, etc.)
Ability to lead Depth and Complexity professional development for GT differentiation
Ability to counsel parents/students with social/emotional and/or academic struggles
Ability to plan and conduct meaningful GT staff development
Collaborate and/or lead aspects of departmental meetings
Ability to learn novel skills as programming and department changes necessitate
Experience:
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
GT processes, procedures, and testing as needed for GT identification from initial contact to final identification determination
ARE meetings at campuses as needed for GT placement
GT Specialist support at campus(s) level including teacher PD, parent meetings, ARE meetings, screening for GT identification, and ongoing collaboration with campus team and administration
Collaborate with other AAS Specialists and departmental support team for ongoing GT identification and programming within the scope now and in the future of the Advanced Academics Department
Support gifted and advanced level classroom teachers in the implementation of gifted and talented curriculum and instructional strategies
Support campus and district parents on GT topics and student progress/achievement
Assist and participate in the development and implementation of district gifted and talented staff development
Support campuses in the implementation of gifted and talented curriculum differentiation and instructional strategies to increase student achievement
Participate in community activities, to the extent feasible and appropriate, that foster rapport and mutual respect between the district and the community
Prepare GT testing data and reports to campus and district as needed

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
Posture: Prolonged sitting' frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 lbs.)
Environment: Working inside, may work outside; may work prolonged or irregular hours; district wide state travel
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
