Responsibilities

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is hiring a highly motivated physical therapist. This candidate should possess 2-3 years of experience. The position is a split position between Stephen Klein Wellness center and Art Museum location. The position includes, but is not limited to the following essential functions.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluation and treatment

  • Ability to collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary team in order to provide patient centered care

  • Ambitious with a dedication to creating value for the patient through the implementation of quality treatment techniques and efficient care

  • Contributes to program development through marketing and relationship building with potential referral sources

  • Keep abreast of the field and maintaining best practice by reading current literature, collaboration with other colleagues and participation in professional conferences.

  • Works closely with clinical staff, assistants, support staff, students and volunteers

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the organization

Qualifications

  • Current Pennsylvania State Licensure as an Physical Therapist

  • 2- year experience preferred

  • Continuing Education requirements current per state licensure requirements

  • CPR Certification required

Primary Functions: The Program Director will work with the Chair of Department, Dean of the Jefferson College of Health Professions, Jefferson Administration, and Jefferson PA Program faculty and staff to promote and execute the mission and goals of the PA Program and PA department, ensuring a superior education for TJU students in accordance with ARC-PA Standards. Must collaborate closely with other department Program Directors. Core Duties, Responsibilities, and Competencies: Duties involve collaboration with the Dean of JCHP, Department Chair, and TJU PA Program faculty and staff to assure the PA Program's compliance with ARC-PA standard Academic, University & Community Responsibilities * Assume the leadership role in the development and delivery of Physician Assistant education at Thomas Jefferson University – Center City Program. * Serve as liaison between the Physician Assistant profession and the University and College. * Interpret trends in Physician Assistant education and health care to the University and College officers, including public policy regarding education and health. * Interpret the goals of the University and College to faculty, in conjunction with the department chair. * Represent the Department and College to community and professional groups. * Actively engage in professional association activities. * Collaborate with the department chair and other department program directors to develop and assist with the research agenda for the Department in concert with the University and College's goals. ¿Management Responsibilities * Maintain academic standards for the TJU – Center City Physician Assistant Program which satisfy the requirements of Thomas Jefferson University and those established by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA). * Ensure congruence between the educational goals of the program, the mission and strategic plan of the University, College, and Department. * Work collaborative with Department Chair and department program directors to develop educational policies affecting academic programs in the Department for final approval by the Dean of the Jefferson College of Health Professions. * Oversee the coordination of the clinical education functions of the Program with appropriate personnel at affiliated institutions. * Coordinate the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Program curriculum in cooperation with administration and faculty. * Identify, attract and retain competent Program faculty and staff. * Collaborate with Department Chair and department Program Directors to provide guidance for faculty development programs. * Promote a system of peer review among Program faculty. * Recommend to the Chair, faculty for appointment, reappointment and/or promotion. * Coordinate the recruitment, admission, retention and progression of Program students. * Facilitate communication among the Program, Department, College and University. * Interpret University, College and Department policies to affiliating agencies and the public. Academic and Research Responsibilities * Promote and encourage research activities, continuing education, educational programs and publications by Program faculty and students. * Collaborate with Department Chair and other Program Directors to facilitate and oversee a research agenda for the Department. * Assist with preparation and/or review grant applications and research proposals. * Collaborate with the appropriate College and University components in the coordination of research and efforts. * Oversee all teaching activities in the academic program. * Participate in professional and scholarly activities as a representative of the Program, Department, College, and University. * Foster interdisciplinary, inter-institutional and intra-university scholarly endeavors. Organizational Responsibilities * The Program Director is responsible to the Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies for the performance of his/her duties. In accordance with ARC-PA Standards, the Program Director also has responsibility for: * Developing the mission statement of the program. * Selecting applicants for admission to the program. * Providing student instruction. * Evaluating student performance. * Academic counseling of PA students. * Assuring the availability of remedial instruction. * Designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating curriculum. * Administering and evaluating the program. * Assuming any other related duties necessary to develop and maintain an effective program. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited PA program required. Masters level degree from accredited PA program or other health related field required. Current NCCPA certification with current licensure in Pennsylvania, or license eligible required. Minimum two years physician assistant clinical experience and four years' experience in PA education required. Knowledge of the roles, responsibilities and scope of practice of Physician Assistant profession required. Knowledge and understanding of the Standards and the accreditation process. Skills and Other Requirements: Team-building, organization, and leadership skills. Ability to network with outside organizations and facilities. Collaborative spirit. Ability to travel. Excellent oral, written, intrapersonal, and computer skills (including Microsoft Office®) required.
