Job Purpose (Job Summary):

To provide business analyst capabilities required to support investment applications that Invesco has deemed important to the success of achieving their business goals. It is a position that is important and unique in that it faces both internal business clients and technology professionals assisting with both defining and implementing tools and processes to achieve viable, appropriate, and sometimes market leading solutions to business problems.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Gather and analyze information on existing business processes in order to resolve issues and make recommendations that seek to improve business systems and processes.

  • Understand the client business and make recommendations and technology suggestions to solve problems and improve efficiency.

  • Work with third party vendors or systems, as needed, to research and resolve production support issues.

  • Review, discuss and work within agreed timescales and give feedback to stakeholders of any variances arising as tasks are performed.

  • Assist with preparation of all necessary documentation and processes to enable ongoing support of the systems, as needed.

  • Communicate with internal and external customers, supervisors and management using clear, user-friendly terminology (emails, phone, meetings).

  • Provide business analysis in support of investment applications, as required, including but not limited to:

    • Analysis and documentation of requirements for enhancements to systems and / or business processes. May involve investigation of third party vendors or systems.
    • Organize and oversee tasks to ensure that the development/change meets user requirements and expectations.
    • Lead reviews of requirements and designs with relevant stakeholders to obtain agreement and sign off of proposals.
    • Participate in creating estimates of cost and effort along with implementation plans to enable prioritization and timely implementation of development requests.
    • Assist in maintaining an application issues log to capture any system or business process issues, enhancements, bugs or new business requirements.
    • Assist and / or coordinate user acceptance testing, ensuring issues are resolved in a pragmatic and appropriate manner.
    • Adhere to standards set by the Invesco project methodology.
    • Assist with developing improvements to team processes and procedures
    • Assist with monitoring system integrity and data processes to ensure a high standard of service and availability is provided to clients for supported applications.

Work Experience / Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 6 years of proven business analysis experience in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams

  • Experience with software development lifecycle preferred

  • Experience working in the financial services industry preferred

  • Desire to stay updated on new business analysis tools and methods

  • A plus if experienced with ITIL, Agile or Lean IT principles

  • Experience analyzing business or technical problems and proposing and implementing solutions

  • Familiarity with SQL is preferred

  • Experience with investment applications, like CADIS is preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Visio, and all Office Tools preferred

  • Experience working in the financial sector preferred.

  • Broad understanding of the Fixed Income and Equity asset classes preferred.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills (must be capable of communicating clearly and effectively to senior business users, IT management, and internal team members).

  • Excellent written communication skills, including ability to produce process flowcharting, requirements, and formal business solution documents.

  • Presentation skills and the ability to influence others in order to meet objectives.

  • Broad knowledge of systems and business processes in use for Fixed Income Investments function. Understanding of Investments data and market data supporting investment processes is a plus.

  • Structured, disciplined approach to work, and good attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a global, multicultural environment.

  • The ability to multi-task on various support assignments.

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Maintenance of up-to-date knowledge in appropriate technical areas.

Formal Education: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)

  • Bachelor degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field is preferred or commensurate relevant work experience.

  • Formal business analysis training and/or qualification preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust and temperatures.

  • Normally works a regular schedule of hours, however hours may vary depending upon the project or assignment.

  • Shift work may be required with start times varying between 7 and 10 a.m. to start, depending on the shift needing coverage.

  • Hours may include evenings and/or weekends and may include 24 hour a day on call support by pager and/or cell phone.

  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally. Frequency and duration to be determined by manager.
