Compensation: $47,025.00 Annually; $22.60 Hourly

Specialist in this position will investigate reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults; will make referrals to appropriate community resources to meet identified needs of the adult; if needed, will work with agency attorney to pursue guardianship for the adult through the Kansas Guardianship Program and is required to testify in court proceedings as needed. The Specialist is required to go where the adult is, which may include unsanitary or hostile environments; will continually analyze the client's safety, environment, and family dynamics on an ongoing basis; will establish and develop community resources and networks; Must be comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team approach in order to meet the needs and safety of clients. It is critical that the Specialist is a team player, positive, and demonstrates a professional manner to clients and co-workers.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Education

  • General; Four-year degree in a Human Services or Behavioral Sciences field of study, or education determined relevant by the agency. Valid Driver's License (must maintain valid driver's license throughout employment); Licensed Professional (must maintain license throughout employment).

Preferred Qualifications: Licensed Social Worker; Master's in Professional Counseling (Licensed Professional Counselor); Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist); Licensed Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) professional as determined relevant by the agency; Licensed Professional (must maintain license throughout employment); Minimum of 2-years of work experience in Children and Family Services.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:

  • Security Clearance: A background check (KBI - criminal background, welfare fraud, driver's license and Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry) is required for all positions with the Department for Children and Families (DCF) as a condition of employment, which may include fingerprinting and FBI check. Security clearance must be obtained prior to employment with DCF. Must maintain security clearance throughout employment.
