Adult Education Specialist VISTA

Metropolitan Ministries' goal is to generate resources to support MM's housing, outreach, and food programs which will support our mission of self-sufficiency for the homeless and those at risk of homelessness. The goals of these programs include providing emergency and transitional shelter to homeless individuals and families, teaching self-sufficiency and life skills to homeless individuals and families, preventing and diverting homelessness, providing employment assistance, and alleviating hunger and food insecurity.

This position will expand education and employment opportunities for homeless or at -risk of becoming homeless residents and community members. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.

Member Duties : The Adult Education Specialist VISTA will: Develop an education assessment tool to connect clients with education resources and training programs that align with their career goals; Create a campaign to spread awareness of education and training opportunities to MM clients; Develop a system to evaluate effectiveness of Adult Education program; and Develop a grant management process to ensure all data and outcomes are being tracked appropriately. This position seeks and integrates current knowledge of oncology nursing and principles of adult learning into education. # The Nursing Education Specialist utilizes systematic educational planning principles, solid instructional design methods, and emerging technologies for the creation of relevant programs, materials, methods, and media to communicate information and implements monitoring and assessment measures to determine effectiveness. This individual designs high quality education programs and materials for diverse audiences across practice steering#s with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes. This position will support various Moffitt clinical areas, in supporting patient education. # Qualifications: # Masters in in Nursing, Education is required. (Bachelors in Nursing ( BSN) required State of Florida RN License is required National Specialty Certification is required. # Experience and Skills Three years of relevant nursing experience. Demonstrated knowledge in educational needs assessment. Well-developed knowledge of education planning processes, various communication methods/new media, program development and evaluation. Excellent verbal, written and listening skills. Demonstrated organizational and problem solving capability. Commitment to quality customer service. # Responsibilities on the job Conducts assessment of educational needs; identified priorities and plans accordingly. Plans and implements educational programs utilizing principles of adult learning and varied teaching strategies. Evaluates and revises educational programs; recommends changes in the education process based on evaluative findings and accreditation/regulatory standards. Ensures effective and efficient coordination of education programs and materials/media; promotes multidisciplinary participation in education process. Leads groups to achieve department and Center goals; i.e. improvement initiatives, educational endeavors, committees and task forces.
