Job Summary

Job Summary

30 hours/week for 49 weeks BASIC FUNCTION: The Teacher on Special Assignment will be responsible for comprehensive case management of youths that are low-income students from the juvenile probation population in high school within Alameda County and students from Alternative Education Schools within Alameda County.

The Teacher on Special Assignment will oversee students while they participate in the workshop series component and during paid internships. Skills and Knowledge to: ? Communicate effectively with youth from multicultural and disadvantaged backgrounds. ? Provide comprehensive assessment and produce an initial youth intake. ? Counsel youth one-on-one; assist youth with life skills and resolution of difficulties impeding the progress and successful outcome of basic skills training, occupational training, and job readiness. ? Write and communicate clearly ? Be resourceful and energetic ? Work with minimal supervision Knowledge of: ? Marketing principles and practices ? Public, private and community based organizations ? Management information system reporting ? Interpersonal relations skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. ABILITIES: ? Ability to disseminate and coordinate information on local economy and employment trends to advise employers, and partners ? Make logical and judicious decisions and provide workable solutions to problems; weigh alternative decisions and reduce outcome risks ? Strong interpersonal skills; ability to use collaborative approaches to build support for objectives; build positive relationships within and outside the agency; effective and timely dissemination of information; involve others and seek solutions where all parties can contribute and benefit; recognize and respect diverse ideas; encourage and support others. Requires excellent facilitation skills and organizational leadership skills. ? Goal and result oriented; ability to meet time commitments and follow through to task/job completion;
