The Office of Admissions and Financial Aid is responsible for the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of domestic and international undergraduate and graduate students at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee. The office works together with the Office of Student Services in the enrollment process new and returning students and collaborates with university personnel to effectively serve our students.

This position reports to the Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid and works jointly with faculty, deans of each college, university departments, and the student services staff. Evening or weekend hours are required for information sessions and other recruitment events.


The Admissions and Special Programs & Events counselor contributes to a team of outreach staff by providing admissions information to prospective or newly admitted students and their families. This role has oversight for the coordination and planning of on-campus, undergraduate recruitment programs and events; including on-campus open houses, group tours, and other visit events that highlight USF's education and experience. This position serves as the primary point of contact for prospective students, parents and the community for Admissions events.

This position coordinates USFSM's dual enrollment program, fostering and developing relationships with local schools to increase enrollment in the program. In addition, this person will review and audit dual enrollment students' records including transcripts, test scores and registration documents.

This position will assist prospective students (and their families) in their transition from high schools, 2-year institutions or other 4-year institutions to USFSM by providing information and assistance during campus tours and with the completion of all types of admissions applications. Some weekend and night work will be necessary, as well as limited travel.


Lead, plan, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive array of recruitment and admission yield events and programs to enhance the recruitment efforts of the Office of Admissions. This includes serving on committees or coordinating with the appropriate offices, such as, Student Engagement, Facilities, and other offices as appropriate.

Respond to admissions questions and convey needed information to campus visitors. Ensure that adequate follow-up communication and relation-building activities are planned, scheduled, and executed after campus visits and recruitment events. Provide data analysis on post-event and assess the success/effectiveness of the recruitment program/event.

Coordinate Dual Enrollment recruitment efforts. Act as primary liaison with high school dual enrollment counselors. Communicate with prospective/current students and parents, assist with the processing of dual enrollment applications, produce reports for dual enrollment partners, coordinate with USFSM Colleges, and assist in maintaining program compliance.

Develop relationships with schools and community-based organizations via group visits. This includes serving on committees or coordinating with the appropriate offices, such as Catering, Student Engagement, or Facilities, that affect Admissions events. This position is also responsible for auditing and analyzing data from visits to help focus future recruitment efforts.

Welcome visitors to campus and give tour presentations. These presentations may vary based on who is attending.

This position will also coordinate other admissions counselors to make sure individual appointments can be had after tours. Correspond with visitors in a timely fashion to advise them of schedules and arrangements. Work with the Campus Experience Coordinator to respond to general inquiries and analyze feedback after events.

Assist with the development of materials and communication plans needed for coordinating and promoting on-campus recruitment and dual enrollment opportunities, along with the Director of Admissions and Marketing & Communications Officer.

Serve as the primary liaison with the Orientation team to help with yielding efforts. Communicate with prospective students, parents and community through telephone, email and other media to promote orientation programs and registration for events.

MINIMUM: This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in an appropriate field with a minimum of 1 year admissions or related experience.

PREFERRED: Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field.

Experience in public speaking and one or more years of experience in admissions position. Demonstrated experience working with multicultural and underrepresented student populations, parents and/or support agencies.
