The Admission Recruitment Specialist III works in collaboration with other admission team members in managing the admissions processes from application start to seat acceptance for all current and future Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership graduate degree (NSHL) programs and the PMHNP graduate certificate program. This includes maintaining the infrastructure for student admissions, applicant services information, and working with the Nursing Science and Health-Care graduate group Recruitment, Admissions and Fellowship committee and sub-committees as needed. The Admissions Recruitment Specialist III is responsible for possessing broad knowledge about admissions and student affairs at the School of Nursing and applying skills as an experienced professional to ensure the school's strategic plan is carried out through all activities related to admissions, student services and outreach. The position provides in-depth information to applicants on admissions requirements, cultivates relationships with high-priority prospects, works within the school's admissions Customer Relationship Management system and tracks new student registration and enrollment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge and experience of graduate group structure and function to develop, implement, and manage a highly successful graduate degree program is highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated professional ability to reprioritize workload and perform in a highly visible and high-stakes dynamic environment for the successful launch and sustainability of academic programs for the School of Nursing.

  • Demonstrated independent decision making skills to work with ambiguities where clear guidelines are not present. Demonstrated skills to identify issues, problem solve where frequent analysis of unique issues are needed, and seek resources to develop solutions.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse group of people including faculty, staff and students; respond to questions and concerns; and comprehend the specialized needs of students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

  • Excellent organizational skills to work under frequent interruptions; to independently establish priorities, anticipate job requirements, organize work flow to work effectively to achieve timely progress on multiple projects< and meet deadlines. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise to interpret and advise effectively on policies, procedures and requirements regarding UC Davis graduate education and the NSHL program, UC DavisGraduate Studies, and the University of California. Demonstrated expertise regarding student admissions and financial aid policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Understanding of the University's mission in providing financial aid. Relevant training regarding student fee structures and nonresident/international tuition requirements, financial aid, fellowship and grant principles, practices, processes, and financial aid packaging and the ability to apply them correctly and in compliance with Federal, State and UC regulations.

  • Extensive analytical skills to interpret student data to support recommendations.

  • Ability to obtain, correlate, and develop statistical reports from a variety of sources; skills to retrieve and assemble information for preparation.

  • Excellent oral and written skills to communicate with faculty, staff, students, and the public. Ability to prepare agendas, take minutes and maintain files.

  • Ability to function well and with a great deal of flexibility in a fast-pace working environment; strong initiative and work cooperatively in a team environment. Other duties as assigned, as the program grows and develops.

Department Description

The incumbent must possess excellent customer service skills including the ability to remain positive and professional when dealing with the public (ie. during direct interaction with applicants, interviews orientations, etc.); effectively collaborate with a variety of key players (faculty, staff, and leadership); and must be able to solve problems quickly and work with changing priorities and demanding workloads, utilizing good judgment as to when to inform and seek consultation from management. The position is critical to the academic programs for the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing and their on-going sustainability and success.
