Purpose of the Position:
The Admissions Counselor/Transfer Enrollment Advisor reports to the Assistant Director of Transfer Recruitment and supports transfer recruitment initiatives. This position serves as a first point of advising for incoming transfer students seeking information on course articulation. They will collaborate with the Office of the Registrar and academic advisors across the colleges to assist in credit evaluation. In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Transfer Recruitment and Transfer Admissions Counselor, this position will support the university's transfer enrollment goals. This position is based on campus in Huntsville.
Duties/Responsibilities
Meet with incoming transfer students to review transcripts and assess equivalencies with courses offered at the university. Determine transferability of credits and provide unofficial course articulations to assist students in understanding how their credits may transfer.
Collaborate with academic advisors across the colleges to verify course equivalencies and ensure alignment with degree requirements. Serve as a bridge between transfer students and academic advisors to ensure students have articulation, advisement, and registration completed in a timely manner.
Support recruitment of incoming students by traveling to community college partners to meet with prospective transfer students.
Work closely with the Registrar's Office to access and interpret transfer credit policies and guidelines. Communicate regularly to ensure accurate and up-to-date information regarding course equivalencies and transfer processes. Manage student data and course articulation information in the SIS and recruitment CRM.
Represent the Office of Admissions at on-campus recruitment events including preview days, open house events, admitted student events, and new student orientation.
Maintain detailed records of transfer credit evaluations and articulations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university policies and procedures. Generate reports and documentation as needed for internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
1-3 years of experience in higher education, academic advising, recruitment, marketing, and/or sales.
Excellent interpersonal communication and public speaking skills.
Ability and willingness to travel.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Must have a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by the university.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Desired Qualifications:
Prior experience working in undergraduate admissions at a four-year non-profit college or university.
Prior experience working with undergraduate transfer students.
